Where was Gone filmed?

Although the story briefly references Ogmore in South Wales, the series was primarily set and filmed in Bristol.

Production took place across several locations in the city, with much of the filming happening at The Bottle Yard Studios - one of the largest film and television studios in the West of England.

At the studio, the production team built bespoke interior sets for key scenes in the drama.

The crew also shot scenes across Bristol itself, using a range of real-world locations –including cafés and restaurants in Queens Square, Clifton. The DoubleTree Hotel by in Bristol city centre is featured, and was actually repurposed as the police station's press room as well.

Filming also took place at a property on Richmond Hill Avenue in Clifton, which doubled as an exterior for the police station.

The real school used in Gone

One of the most important locations in the series is the school where Michael Polly (David Morissey) works as headmaster.

The one featured in the series is a real-life Catholic private school near Bath, called Downside school. The school was established in 1614 – and was originally a school for English Catholic boys – but now has mixed pupils aged 11 to 18.

Filming took place during the Easter holidays, allowing the crew to shoot scenes across the campus without disrupting students.
