If your Monday nights regularly mean sitting in front of the TV with a cup of tea attempting to solve the murder in Silent Witness, then you're in for a surprise, as Silent Witness isn't on tonight and here's why.
It's the latest in a string of schedule changes for the BBC crime drama, as last week saw two episodes pulled and replaced by later episodes in the season, following a real life crime that took place in Birmingham, where the show is filmed and set. The episodes in question 'The Enemy Within: Part One' and 'Part Two' followed the team as they investigated a stabbing that appeared to be racially motivated.
The episodes were pulled from the schedule for last week as two teenage boys, aged 14 and 15 were attacked with a machete outside a shop in Birmingham, and taken to hospital, with one having life-threatening injuries. A 16-year-old boy was charged with two counts of attempted murder, assault, and possession of a bladed article.
Now the two episodes that were delayed are expected to be airing this week. However, unlike the usual schedule which usually airs two episodes across two consecutive evenings Monday and Tuesday. This week episodes five and six will air on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 9pm.
So why is Silent Witness not on tonight?
The FA Cup took place over the weekend and was televised on BBC One, meaning there's been a number of scheduling changes to BBC programmes, with programmes that were meant to air when the FA Cup was on pushed back to later slots, creating a ripple effect.
In Silent Witness' usual slot instead will be Death in Paradise, which was moved from its usual slot on Friday evenings to make space for the FA Cup coverage.
Now, we'll get to see 'The Enemy Within' across Tuesday 17th February and Wednesday 18th this week.
Silent Witness is currently in its 29th season, having started all the way back in 1996 and after the majority of the show set in London, the team both on and off screen have moved to Birmingham.
The most recent episodes have seen Nikki, Jack, Kit and Harriet investigate the death of a man found in an old mental health hospital and uncover the mystery of a woman who was killed many years ago.
Silent Witness is available for catchup on BBC iPlayer
