Silent Witness is back to bring a good dose of mystery to our Monday and Tuesday evenings. The police drama is in its 29th season and this time around sees the team up sticks and move to their office to Birmingham.
Despite the change in location, the cast remains the same, with the four main cast members returning to solve crimes in Birmingham. However, with a new location does mean we've got some brand new police detectives for the team to work alongside.
The next two episodes 'The Enemy Within' parts one and two, kicked off last night (17 February) following a schedule change. The two episodes were meant to air last week, but following a real life incident in Birmingham, the BBC made the decision to delay their release. The first episode was then meant to air on Monday night, however, because of previous schedule changes due to the FA Cup late last week, the new episode only came out last night.
These new episodes feature two new detectives who have a lot going on in their own lives outside the case. And Here's everything you need to know about them and the rest of the cast of Silent Witness.

Emilia Fox as Dr Nikki Alexander
Who is Dr Nikki Alexander? Dr Nikki is a forensic pathologist and has been a character on the show since 2004. She's now married to Jack whom she works alongside.
How long has Dr Nikki been a character on Silent Witness? Dr Nikki Alexander has been a main character since season eight which aired in 2004, so 22 years in total. She took over after the character of Dr Sam Ryan (Amanda Burton) left the series.

David Caves as Jack Hodgson
Who is Jack Hodgson? Jack is a forensics expert, who joined the series as a main character in 2013. He's now married to Nikki.
How long has Jack been a character on Silent Witness? Jack has been a main character since 2013, joining in series 16, so he's been on the show for 13 years now.
What else has David Caves been in? Outside of his work in Silent Witness, David is known for his work in the theatre, having appeared in a number of Shakespeare performances. He's also appeared in the movie Jackie.
Francesca Mills as Kit Brookes
Who is Kit? Kit is a crime scene analyst and she's got a good friendship with Jack.
How long has Kit been a character on Silent Witness? Kit has been a main character since season 28 in 2025, so she's been on the show for two years.
What else has Francesca Mills been in? Francesca was first on our screens in BBC's Harlots, where she played Cherry Dorrington. She's also appeared in series such as Worzel Gummidge, The Witcher: Blood Origin and Transaction.
Maggie Stead as Harriet Maven
Who is Harriet Maven? Like Nikki, Harriet is a forensic pathologist and is in charge of the team.
How long has Maggie been a character on Silent Witness? Maggie has been part of the show since 2025 and so just two years.
What else has Maggie Stead been in? Maggie has been on our screens since the 1970s when she started her career in Coronation Street. Since then she's become known for her roles in The Painted Veil, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, A Cure for Wellness and TV shows including Born and Bred, Jam & Jerusalem, Stella, Eastenders, Ten Percent and more recently Rivals.

Gerrard Kearns as DC Jono Magath
Who is DC Jono Magath? DC Jono is a detective working on the case in episodes five and six. He has also taken a very personal interest in Kit.

Selin Hizli as DI Kayla Baran
Who is DI Kayla Baran? DI Kayla is the lead investigator on the cast in episodes five and six. She ends up having a personal connection to the case.

Lydia Wilson as DI Ashley Moss
Who is DI Ashley Moss? Ashley is the DI in charge of investigating the case in episodes three and four.
What else has Lydia Wilson been in? You'll most likely recognise Lydia for her role of Kit Kat in About Time. She's also recently starred in Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue, Requiem, and Ripper Street.
Zita Sattar as DCI Jilly Bashir
Who is DCI Jilly Bashir? Jilly is the first DCI we see the team working with during the new season, and worked on the Alice Hill case years prior. She was in the first two episodes.
What else has Zita Sattar been in? Over the years Zita has starred in series such as Casualty, The Worst Witch, Doctors and most recently Until I Kill You.
Mollie Winnard as DI Claire Ferris
Who is DI Claire Ferris? Claire is the DI the team work with during the first case we see in Birmingham. She was in the first two episodes.
