Last night, the biggest event in the European music calendar took place: the Eurovision Song Contest. While many Brits watch it just to hear Graham Norton's iconic sarcastic commentary, at its core, it's a celebration of Europe's collective culture. (It's also a major excuse to host fancy dress gatherings, because who doesn't love a Eurovision house party?)

But, for those who somehow missed the grand finale, you'll likely have one burning question on your mind. Who won?

Well, we can now reveal that Austria's JJ took home the coveted prize after being crowned the winner of the 2025 competition.

The 24-year-old Austrian act owned the leaderboard with 436 points from the public and jury vote. His performance of the song 'Wasted Love' beat the 26 other acts competing - including the UK.

JJ (whose real name is Johannes Pietsch) is a classically trained singer who appeared on The Voice UK in 2020 after missing the deadline for Germany's version. He has also performed at the Vienna State Opera. Both experiences clearly influenced his Eurovision track, which combined his classical training with a poppier edge.

Following his win, JJ gushed: "Thank you so much Europe. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."

Israeli act Yuval Raphael took second place. Scoring 357 points with her ballad 'New Day Will Rise,' she just pipped Estonia to the post. The Baltic country received 356 points with their track 'Espresso Macchiato'.

As for the UK, country-pop group Remember Monday received nil points from the public vote. The same happened to Olly Alexander, who was our entry last year.

Overall, their song 'What The Hell Just Happened' came in 19th place, with 88 points from the jury vote. Their campy performance was very much still a vibe, though!
