The past 24 hours has seen the Married at First Sight Australia season 12 cast be reunited with their Instagram accounts. While the show is airing in Australia and the UK the production crew limit the cast's access to their Instagrams and turn off DMs and the comment section. However, now the cast is back and fully in control. And among the thirst traps and Australia Fashion Week posts, a lot of the cast have been spilling tea during Instagram Q+A sessions on their Stories.

From revealing what the food at the dinner parties is actually like to spilling all on whether the show is scripted, the MAFS Australia cast have not held back in giving the people what they want and sharing much needed filming secrets.

So here is everything the MAFS Australia cast has revealed so far about the show since getting their Instagrams back yesterday.

The dinner party food is actually good

In previous years the cast of MAFS, particularly here on the UK series, has complained about the quality of the food that's served at the dinner party. However, Paul who did a Q+A session on his Instagram Story earlier today revealed the food was actually decent.

"I am a massive foodie," he said when replying to a follower who asked him about the dinner party food. "I love my food so much, and to be fair the food at the dinner parties was decent. More than decent, some days the food was really good. We were well fed."

The cast pay for their own clothes

Yep, there's no big budget reserved for those iconic dinner party and commitment ceremony looks. Paul revealed during his Q+A the cast dress themselves and bring their own outfits.

"No they don't," Paul replied to a fan who asked about whether the show provided clothes. "We've all had to come up with our own clothes. In a way I'm kinda glad. For me personally I don't think I'd trust anyone to dress me."

But they do want the cast to dress colourfully

Jamie also hopped on an Instagram Q+A yesterday where she revealed the producers wanted the cast to dress in bright colours for the dinner parties and commitment ceremonies.

She explained she only really wears black at home and so she bought a bunch of looks from Shein and Depop.

Jamie also revealed she and many of the other girls rented their clothes from one brand in Australia called The Only Dress.

It's not scripted

Jamie was asked during her Q+A if the drama on the show is real and she said it is and that there are no scripts for the cast.

"It is real. It’s not scripted, we’re not actors," she said to camera. "Imagine being married to a stranger and you’ve seen the type of people they pick for this show

"So imagine being in a room for that person for months, like you’re going to lose your mind, And you’re just sitting at the table having to argue with each other, it’s just crazy."

Beth also confirmed the series isn't scripted when asked by a follower if the show is scripted.

"It’s not scripted which was a bit of shock to me because I’ve watched MAFS before and when you watch it you think ‘how can it not be scripted?’ but it’s not," she explained.

But filming takes a long time and they often fell asleep during filming

Paul also echoed what former MAFS contestants have said about the show and that it does take hours for certain scenes to be shot, especially the commitment ceremonies.

When asked by a follower if the producers ever took out any moments and if he looked into camera Paul said: "The commitment ceremonies go for hours, and sometimes you're just sitting on that couch for so long and you just doze off. The amount of times I nearly fell asleep or the times other cast members actually fell asleep was hilarious. And then the amount of times I caught myself staring into camera and then you just shake your head off and think 'what am I doing?'"

The cast are allowed to travel home during the show

When Awhina got her Instagram back one of the first thing she did is give the people what they wanted and answered a bunch of questions about filming.

She was asked by one fan how her son was while she was away she revealed she went home five times during filming to see him.

"I flew home during filming five times," she explained. "I was incredibly fortunate that I have the best support network behind me. My mum is like a second mum, my twin sister tells people she is his mum and his dad an I have a great parenting plan."

Some of the cast are signed up while the old series is still on

The planning for every series of MAFS Australia is intense and Awhina revealed she was originally booked for her series in February 2024, a whole seven months before she even met husband Adrian.

While replying to a TikToker about the show, Awhina revealed she was waiting months to get on the series.

"I was one of the first people they signed up in February and August is when I met him [Adrian]," she commented.

Awhina and Adrian had a cute date just two days before the final ceremony

There were a lot of unseen moments we didn't get to see during the series, and one of them Awhina revealed was a little fireside moment she had with Adrian ahead of the final ceremony.

During an Instagram Q+A yesterday [12 May] Awhina was asked: "If Adrian was so bad what happened at the final ceremony? Why catchup up after?"

She then responded with a picture of Adrian lighting a fire and said: "This was two days before final vows, he and I had so many lows but what you didn’t see were the highs. He wasn’t all bad, but I felt empty when I returned home."

The cast didn't have access to their Instagrams for six months

When Awhina returned to TikTok this week she made a comment about it being over six months since she'd had access to her social accounts.

One follower pointed out this wasn't factually correct because the show hadn't been on that long, and Awhina revealed the cast actually give up their accounts before the show even airs.

She said: "They took mine at the start of December, so I mean five and a half, sorry want the exact days mate?"
