Sionainn and Ryan joined the Married at First Sight UK experiment late this year, alongside two other intruder couples. But why did they make a surprise exit when it all seemed to be going so well?

Each participant was paired up with their new spouse by a panel of experts, who assess their compatibly through a variety of factors including shared values, lifestyles, and goals for the future. The couples then meet for the first time on their wedding day, before going on a honeymoon, moving in together and meeting each other's friends and family.

After weeks spent together, interspersed with group dinner parties and couples counselling with the experts via the commitment ceremonies, at the end of the experiment (if they get that far) each couple then decides if they want to carry their relationship into the future.

So do Ryan and Sionainn make it that far? Here's what we know.

What happened for Ryan and Sionainn on MAFS UK?

28-year-old bin man Ryan and 29-year-old makeup artist Sionainn didn't get off to the smoothest start on their wedding day. While Ryan was very happy with who he saw at the end of the aisle, Sionainn was worried Ryan looked like a typical bad boy that she'd been hurt by in the past.

However, as the wedding day continued and Sionainn learned more about Ryan including his son, and his experience with cancer, she started to open up to him more. The pair then headed on their honeymoon and grew closer, with Ryan telling Sionainn how much he liked her.

And when they returned from their honeymoon and entered the first dinner party, Sionainn was asked in the honesty box what she needed from Ryan, and she said she was happy with where they're at and just wanted to continue building on that. They sailed through their first two dinner parties and commitment ceremonies, only hitting a small road block during an argument off camera during retreat week. Ryan was also unhappy when Stephen said he would shoot his shot with Sionainn, with both Ryan and Sionainn insisting they only had eyes for each other in the experiment.

Are Ryan and Sionainn from MAFS UK together now?

Following the drama which unfolded during 23rd October's episode, it's safe to say Ryan and Sionainn aren't together. The pair revealed they were leaving the experiment, after having a major blow up off camera.

"I'm leaving boys," Ryan was filmed telling two of his fellow grooms. "We've had a proper argument and I was trying to do my laces. I was trying to retie my laces and it was getting on my nerves. So Shannon was trying to help me. So I said, ‘oh, just leave him, just leave them now’ And she said, ‘Oh, don't speak to me like that’. She said to me she doesn't feel comfortable in the relationship and she doesn't know if I'm here for a genuine reason."

Sionainn was then filmed telling two of the brides, " We had like a little fall out yesterday. And it was like, honestly over shoelaces, he just spoke to me really, really poorly. And I said, ‘Ryan don't speak to me like that. You're not going to speak to me like s**t’.

"And it just flipped. He decided to tell me that none of his feelings had ever been real. He'd been faking it all. It was all a holiday romance for him."

Speaking to camera, she added, "I developed real feelings for Ryan and when he told me all his feelings were fake and he didn't mean anything that he said. I feel like I'd been hit in the chest with something. It was a horrible feeling. And I think now I've seen the real side to him. I don't even think I've known the real Ryan ever."

After the episode aired, Ryan took to social media to share a full statement about what happened, and give more detail about why he chose to leave the experiment. It read:

"Writing this is difficult, and to be honest, I’m not sure where to begin. The process of Married at First Sight is intense and an emotional rollercoaster and I genuinely believe I tried my absolute best throughout the whole process.

“I was starting to develop real feelings and it meant a lot to hear Sionainn say she felt 'safe and comfortable' around me. This is something I truly pride myself on, not only as a man but also as a dad.

“I wish things would have turned out differently but now feels like the right time for myself and Sionainn to leave the experiment and I wish her all the best for the future. I will always be grateful for the experience and the opportunity to learn and grow as a person as I continue to take these life lessons into my future. RL x”
