It's been 21 years (21 YEARS!) since Buffy the Vampire Slayer first aired and made us all want to be Buffy Summers.
As well as lusting after Buffy's wit/charm/stamina/fitness levels, we also lusted after her main main...no, not Giles, Angel.
The brooding stares, the all black wardrobe, the giving of jewellery and the occasional white vest top made him our dream boyfriend. Let's just not mention the whole "if we have sex we're all doomed thing"...ok?
1. When he gave Buffy that Claddagh ring which kinda trumps the cubic zirconia your ex boyf bought you that one time in H Samuel.
2. When he found out Buffy's childhood hobby was ice skating so he took her on a date to the the local rink, even though he's an anti sociable vampire.
3. When he surprised Buffy by turning up to her prom even though though they had just broken up because he knew how much it meant to her (let's just gloss over the fact that he leaves town at the end of this episode though).
4. When he admitted that he loved Buffy from the first time he saw her.
Angel: I saw you before you became the Slayer.
Buffy: What?
Angel: I watched you, and I saw you called. It was a bright afternoon out in front of your school [yeah, there was a bit of an age difference in this relationship]. You walked down the steps…and…and I loved you.
Buffy: Why?
Angel: Because I could see your heart. You held it before you for everyone to see. And I worried that it would be bruised or torn. And more than anything in my life I wanted to keep it safe…to warm it with my own.
5. When he asked Buffy if he had a place in her future.
6. To which he replied…
"I ain't getting any older"
7. When he and Xander had a (kind of) bonding moment when they both realised they were in love with Buffy. Meanwhile we can't even get a text back...
8. When he said this and you thought "same".
9. When he dreamt about marrying Buffy and you wondered if Gary from Tinder has ever had the same dream about you (probably not).
10. When he said what we were all thinking about Riley...
11. When he looked this good in a velvet shirt.
12. When you thought about just how well your all black wardrobes would coordinate
13. And when he never outstayed his welcome (we need our own space ok).
