Gigi Hadid just took to social media to share a rare photo of her young daughter Khai and Zayn Malik in a sweet Father's Day tribute. The model shares the 22-month-old with the One Direction singer, who she dated on and off for six years.
While neither Zayn nor Khai's faces were shown in the snap, Gigi wrote "Khai's baba", over the image of her and dad spending quality time together colouring on the floor. The ex-couple welcomed their daughter back in September 2020 and since then, have decided to refrain from publicly showing her face until she can decide for herself whether she wants to be in the spotlight.
Gigi opened up on the matter in an open letter that she posted on Twitter last July, writing: "To the Paparazzi, press, and beloved fan accounts, you know we have never intentionally shared our daughter's face on social media. Our wish is that she can choose how to share herself with the world when she comes of age, and that she can live as normal of a childhood as possible, without worrying about a public image that she has not chosen."
Naturally, the couple also shared their elation at the birth of their daughter too, with Zayn sharing the news on Instagram back in 2020. In the post, he wrote: "To try put into words how I am feeling right now would be an impossible task. The love I feel for this tiny human is beyond my understanding. Grateful to know her, proud to call her mine, and thankful for the life we will have together."
The pair called it quits for good in late 2021, shortly after the 'PILLOWTALK' singer "adamantly" denied striking Yolanda Hadid, Gigi's mum. The reported incident was brought to public attention by sources with apparent "direct knowledge", who told the news website TMZ that Yolanda was considering filing a police report.
Zayn also released a statement to TMZ denying the alleged claims, writing: "I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid and for the sake of my daughter I decline to give any further details and I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private."
However, since then, the pair have been co-parenting after a source close to Gigi's family spoke to E! News. They said: "Gigi and Zayn are broken up, but intend to co-parent Khai in a peaceful and healthy environment. They are working out custody details. They are in contact over Khai and making decisions for her."
But it looks as though there is no drama atm, with Gigi obviously showing how they have put their differences aside as she honoured Zayn in the adorable Father's Day post.
