If you're a fan of Euphoria, you'll know by now that things are getting *pretty* intense in terms of Rue's downward spiral. And after episode 5 of season 2 aired on Sunday, fans were left reeling from the emotional rollercoaster that was Stand Still Like the Hummingbird.
*Spoilers* During the episode, Rue's mother Leslie flushes the entire suitcase of drugs down the drain - you know the $10,000 worth of drugs Rue was supposed to sell for the, quite frankly, *terrifying* Laurie?
And while some were quick to question why Leslie would flush them down the toilet, when it's surely obvious that that would lead to trouble for Rue, others are also suspicious of Elliot's loyalty. "Let's talk about Elliot, because he knew about Rue's whole girl boss plan and didn't say anything" one TikTok user said. "And it's giving, 'If you don't like me the same way I like you, I'm going to ruin you."
What's worse is that Jeremy O. Harris, a consulting producer on Euphoria was also quick to remind fans of a conversation that happened in episode 4 - something that would take the plot to an even darker place. "[Rue] had told Elliot her whole plan," he revealed (via Glamour)
Yep, Rue had confided in Elliot about Laurie and the drugs, which means he knew about the money, and still let Mrs. Bennett flush them all away.
Even though fans have been suspicious of Elliot's behaviour since he joined the cast in season 2, (taking drugs with Rue even though he knew she was an addict) many were not expecting this level of disloyalty. Is he manipulating Rue and Jules for his own little kicks?
During the episode, his final words were "I liked Rue the way she was", which suggests he preferred her when she was relapsing, and in emotional pain. Whether this just proves he never really cared about Rue in the first place, or just doesn't have a conscience, we can only *hope* that she manages to find a way to get out of this situation.
Agh.
