Little Mix fans weren't the only one to rally around Jesy Nelson yesterday [14 December] when it was announced she was leaving the band after nine years. Her ex-boyfriend Chris Hughes also shared a message of support on Instagram.

In case you missed it, after taking an extended absence from the band throughout November, Jesy, 29, shared a statement yesterday explaining that she would no longer be a part of Little Mix with Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Perrie Edwards.

"The truth is recently being in the band has really taken a toll on my mental health," part of her message read. "I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard.

"There comes a time in life where we need to reinvest in taking care of ourselves rather than focussing on making other people happy, and I feel like now is the time to begin that process."

The remaining members of Little Mix later also released a statement, adding that "the three of us are not ready for it to be over" and so would be continuing as a trio.

Now, Jesy's ex Chris from Love Island has also shared a message of support, this time on Instagram. In the comment section of Jesy's statement, Chris left a comment saying "The best" with a red heart.

This isn't the first time Chris has publicly shown support for Jesy, even after their break up in March 2020 (they dated for around a year). In May, he responded to a Twitter troll's tweet about her with: "How about don't be a **** you whole life and let that person live. She has strength, she has beauty, and she has a heart that you could only dream of having."

Chris previously opened up to Mail Online about how he's dedicated to continuing to support Jesy, even if they are just friends. "Obviously we supported each other when we were together," he explained. "I still support her now with things, whether I do that publicly or not, I still do support her anyway."

Yes for supportive exes.
