We love Friends, there's no denying it, but the sitcom did often pose more questions than answers. How did the gang afford their NYC apartments? Did anyone actually like Ross? What does Chandler actually do?
One particularly puzzling issue has been solved though, and it's all thanks to everyone's secondary school favourite, Pythagoras' theorem.
(We know, we know. Just hear us out.)
According to SpareRoom, one very clever Friends fan has analysed the infamous 'Pivot!' scene to figure out exactly how Ross, Rachel and Chandler could have got that damn sofa up the stairs.
Proving that it is possible without cutting the thing in half, data science consultant Caroline Zunckel explained that a simple application of Pythagoras' theorem would have done the trick.
"By applying Pythagoras' theorem to the estimated measurements of Ross' sofa in a vertical position and dimensions of the stairs, I was able to establish that it would have been possible to get the item upstairs," Caroline explained, before adding: "It's quite simple really!"
We'll take your word for it, Caroline.
Another Friends mystery that has (kind of) been solved is the possibility of a reboot – and by that, we of course mean we now know which actor is holding it up.
Revealing that the girls often "fantasise" about a Friends reunion, Jennifer Aniston recently said that it was only Matt LeBlanc who had serious reservations.
"I know Matt LeBlanc doesn't want to be asked that question anymore," she admitted. "But maybe we could talk him into it."
