What year is it? The Backstreet Boys have a new song out, so I'm pretty confused? (But not complaining.)
It's even more confusing because new track 'Don't Go Breaking My Heart' has all the hallmarks of the '90s boy band we (have) love(d): the quintessential BSB signatures of "Regretting My Romantic Callousness" piano, Nick Carter's plaintive squeak (he's 38 years old), and a satisfyingly familiar video that features Olympic synchronised swimming – level coordinated moves, denim on denim (on denim on denim), finger snaps so exaggerated they look like they come from an instructional video for toddlers, arbitrary but appreciated jacket removal, and a leather bucket hat (that one's new for 2018, I think). There's also a nice lady, laying about for no apparent reason. (Does she, like, date them all? That's fine, obviously, but how does it work, that's a big time commitment?)
Plus, it contains the truly inarguable lines: "Baby, don't go breaking my heart / 'Cos it's the only one I got." SO true!!!!!!!!! Note: This song may not be a cover of the Elton John and Kiki Dee classic duet, but it still bangs.
