Tinder has taught us a lot. For starters, there are a lot more men called Axel and Emmanuel out there than we ever realised.
Now you might find some even more unusual names on the dating app, because it's now using fake profiles to try and educate its sex-crazed users about sexually transmitted infections.
Australian condom company Hero and artist Aaron Tyler have teamed up with Tinder to create fake profiles based on different STIs.
For example there's charming Johnorrhea (representing gonorrhoea, obvs) whose profile says 'Swipe right if you're looking for something serious. Infertile kind of serious'. Sounds like a real catch...(sorry)
Then there's the delightful Herpeia, who lists her best assets on her profile: tingling, burning, intolerable itching, and painful blisters. Mmmm, SWIPE RIGHT.
Others include Chlaramydia, Stephylis, and Aydes, among others.
This lot are definitely the worst dates you'll find on any app, but they will hopefully teach a lot of people about the dangers of unprotected sex. And they're very much needed.
According to the latest STI figures syphilis, gonorrhoea, herpes and genital warts are becoming more widespread across the UK, and officials are holding Tinder and other dating apps responsible.
The British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH) reckons rates of STIs in the Tinder community are on the higher end of the spectrum.
This approach makes sense given that most of us spend more time on Tinder than looking at anything educational.
But what's next, Tinder wading into the Brexit debate?
