We stand firm that size comes secondary to skill (and, perhaps, enthusiasm). But, in some rare cases, more is more, and on that front, wand sex toys deliver.
When compared with other styles of sex tech, these lengthy vibrators offer more power across a wider area. And, if opting for the mains-fuelled variety, unwavering attention down there.
Despite first hitting the market in the 60s, we’re not over this sex toy type just yet. In fact, demand is at an all-time high, resulting in every sex shop now racing to put a unique spin on the classic clitoral vibrator.
But the stress of choosing a playmate can be enough to have you wishing for a vanishing act. Thankfully, our sex writers have scoured the virtual shelves and tested a bunch of wands to see which will have you screaming ‘abracadabra’ in a matter of minutes.
So, stay tuned for our sex writers’ rundown of the best magic wand vibrators, plus our top tips for assisted success under the sheets.
How we test the best magic wand vibrators
Let’s just say that working from home took on a whole new meaning for this project. Our sex writers, along with some willing volunteers, were each given a selection of vibrators to test in various sexual positions and locations (bedroom, bathroom, hotel balcony), both with and without their partner(s).
We asked them to consider multiple factors including battery life, noise level, the variety of modes, and the flexibility of their techy teasers before deciding, ultimately, if they would reach for their wand again in the future.
Our writers and editors occupy various positions on the gender identity and sexuality spectrums. At the time of testing, they were aged between 22 and 46 and had differing levels of experience with sex toys. Yep, we roped in everyone from total beginners to connoisseurs.

From pint-sized sidekicks to dual-ended vibrators that double as massage guns, here are the magic wand sex toys our sex writers (highly) recommend.
Le Wand Dive
You’re guaranteed to have a great time with this wand, which couldn’t get more powerful if it tried. It can be completely submerged in water, so you can take it in a pool, bath, or even the ocean if you’re really feeling those holiday vibes.
If you’re into intense sensations, this wand can seriously deliver, and the vibrations are so rumbly they’ll dive deep inside you — even when you’re barely floating it against the surface of your skin.
LELO SMART WAND 2 All-Over Body Massager
Our love story with LELO continues. While the Swedish sexual wellness brand may be known for its plethora of clitoral pleasers (the SILA is one of our sex writer’s ride-or-die), it’s also mastered the magic wand.
With the large version of this body massager (it successfully doubles as a massage gun, saving you space and cash) almost hitting 12 inches, we tend to recommend the medium. But for those who like it big, bold, and bountiful (that applies to the orgasms it induces, too), the option is there.
The medium, at 8.3 inches long and weighing 155 grams, comes pre-programmed with 10 settings, each tailorable in intensity. Our testers rated three and five as their favourites; the first a speedy persistent pulse, and the latter a slower, oscillating rhythm.
Svakom Emma Neo Mini App Controlled Wand Massager
While wand vibrators make a handy addition for foreplay when you’re together, there’s no stopping you from playing with a wand when you’re apart, too.
At least, not with this app-controlled wand, which can be connected with the Svakom app to make it as handy when you’re miles away as when you’re on top of each other.
Thanks to the interactive video element to the app, you can let your partner watch in on your solo sessions, and if you’re feeling brave you can even hand over control of its 10 vibration settings to them.
Lovehoney Deluxe Mini Massage Wand Vibrator
Built for beginners — or experienced players who want to take their techy teaser away with them — Lovehoney’s Deluxe Mini Wand couldn’t be easier to use, thanks to that trio of buttons. Simply hit the wave to change mode, before using the +/– to customise the intensity (you’ve got a choice of 10).
Fitted with a slightly smaller head than Knude Society’s Wanda or LELO’s SMART WAND, this is good for those who prefer pinpointed pleasure, while the flexible neck means it bends and bows to follow the body’s natural contours.
Our only complaint? The hard-plastic, metallic handle is a little slippery when wet, so beware when using it in the shower. But yes, it’s splashproof, and will effortlessly level up your next everything shower. Enjoy.
Bellesa Demi Wand
Looking for a more discreet way to sneak your sex toy through airport security, or simply one you can leave on your bedside table? (Okay, ignoring the fact this is highlighter yellow.) This one from Bellesa is not only the ideal size for smaller hands, but comes in its very own travel case to keep it safe, hygienic, and away from prying eyes.
If us here at Cosmo having a soft spot for the Demi isn’t enough, its five soft and rumbly vibration modes will be — and you’ll be pleased to hear that, unlike other toys with so few options, there’s a significant jump from one to the other. All you have to do is press that single button to flick through to find your fave.
Wait, did we also mention she’s small enough to slot between you and a partner? Score.
Ann Summers Self Love Massage Wand
When trawling the virtual shelves for magic wands, one thing became clear. With every sex shop putting its spin on the classic vibrator, many stick with a smooth silicone head — and rightly so; it’s primed for gliding across the skin and delivering uniform pressure across the chosen area.
However, textured heads can amplify the sensations you feel at the skin’s surface, which is why we were keen to try Ann Summers’ diamond-adorned option. The result: several satisfied testers who raved about bigger, speedier orgasms.
Part of the British brand’s Self Love Collection, which offers a variety of vibes in a rainbow of fun hues, the assumption is fans would use this primarily for solo sessions. However, our testers also confirmed it was a fun addition to partnered play — and more specifically, ball play.
Coco de Mer Pleasure no.5 The Wand
If there’s one place you want to inject a little magic, it’s on holiday. Luckily for you, Coco de Mer has created this chic-beyond-words wand vibrator built just for that.
As well as being coated in the most sensuous soft brown silicone, it comes in a vegan leather travel case, which could justify the cost by itself.
But when you consider the 10 vibration settings, the fact the head is super bendy so you can still ‘rub’ one out, and the fact that it has a travel lock, you’ll be desperate to jet set away faster than you can say ‘wand’.
LELO Switch
No one expects you to know what sensations you’re going to want during sex — and you shouldn’t have to! Calling switches (yep, in all senses of the word): this versatile number from LELO can be used both as a magic wand and a G-spot vibrator, depending on your mood.
Start with one, and end with another — we’d always recommend C-spot stimulation first — and if you’re willing to share the good vibes, you can use one end to rub against your C-spot while your partner sits atop the insertable end (figure out your position first to get comfy and lock in).
Just make sure she’s charged the full two hours before you get going, because — trust us — once you do, you won’t want to stop...
Ann Summers Rechargeable Power Wand Massager
Ann Summers’ Rechargeable Power Wand deserves a spot on our list for very good reasons. It delivers deep, rumbly vibrations that go far beyond surface-level. With multiple intensity settings available, you can tailor the experience depending on how naughty you want to go — plus the cordless design makes the wand easy to manoeuvre.
We also appreciate how comfortable it is to hold and, despite its power, it’s actually fairly quiet — ideal when you want to keep things discreet. So whether you’re new to wand vibrators or upgrading a fave, this gizmo offers impressive performance, durability, and 10/10 results. And, if you don’t just want to use this toy for pleasure, it can also be used to relax tense muscles. We love a multi-tasker.
Doxy Die Cast 3R Vibrator
We’ll save you hours of scrolling for wank-spiration: the Doxy Wand is basically every sex blogger’s favourite sexual aid.
Unlike the original, though, the 3R is rechargeable, which luckily for your hand, makes it much, much lighter.
The rounded silicone head (it’s crafted from cast metal that’s then coated in super-soft silicone) means it can be used at any angle, delivering between 3,000 and 9,000 RPMs per minute. Simply alter the intensity (but not the pattern, sorry lads) with a quick hit on the controls.
Ann Summers Rechargeable Power Massage Wand Set
Want your wand to do more? This set from Ann Summers allows you to customise your wand with different heads designed to arouse all sorts of pleasure — anal beads, a textured clit stimulation head, and a rabbit attachment. Talk about spoilt for choice!
Oh, and that’s not all. There’s eight different speeds and 20 vibration settings to play with — and, thanks to the easy-to-use control panel, switching between them is no hassle. Now all you need to do is clear your calendar for the foreseeable...
Ann Summers My Viv Wand
This sleek and powerful gizmo delivers rumbly vibrations that not only offer surface-level pleasure, but the sensations travel deep through your clit, bringing you to a rumbling orgasm. Its ergonomically-designed handle makes solo sessions easy — or you can pass the toy to your partner, knowing they’ll have no issues trying to figure it out.
It also has a staggering 20 different settings to play with, so you can experiment with the toy and find out what really makes you tick.
We-Vibe Wand 2
As soon as you play with the We-Vibe Wand 2, you’ll understand the price tag. This toy is all about big, easy-to-use vibrations. It’s super powerful to not only make you feel surface-level pleasure, but the sensations carry down your clit, bringing you to the deepest O of your life. Maybe even squirt worthy?
Despite its power, the toy is surprisingly quiet so it can be used in even the most riskiest environments. Think: office, in-laws house, wherever you are!
Top tips for total beginners
No judgement if you’re a vibrator newbie — it’s a personal choice to involve techy teasers. But if you are new to mechanical masturbation and aren’t sure where to start, Alicia Sinclair, founder and CEO of COTR, creators of Le Wand, b-Vibe, and Cowgirl, shares some tips to get you started.
Coupled or solo
Okay, so lots of vibrators out there are marketed as for people with vulvas, but that doesn’t mean they’re only for those people, Sinclair explains. “What I always like to tell people is that a wand can be used in so many different ways,” she says. “It feels good on all bodies — penises, vaginas, and everywhere in between. They’re excellent for promoting pleasure and even relieving pain.”
This makes them ideal for adding in to partnered sex — as long as you can get it in between you. “Magic wands make fantastic couples toys,” Sinclair adds. “You could use it to warm up — start with a massage and move onto stimulating parts of the body like nipples or erogenous zones like the perineum. You can really incorporate it and make it a sensual massage experience.”
The added extras
Thankfully for us, the sex tech geniuses have caught on to people’s love for magic wands, and essentially created a ton of new ways to keep using them in different settings — with a variety of G-spot, rabbit, and male masturbator attachment heads available to add on. “Don’t forget that beyond just using the wand as a vibrator, you can also use many different types of attachments with it,” Sinclair says.
Get experimental with positions
Take it from us! We know it can be tempting to lie in the same position every time you have a solo sesh. And TBH, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. But when it comes to using a magic wand vibrator, switching it up can really pay off.
“For solo exploration, the elevated supine position remains a classic choice,” Sinclair recommends. “Lying on your back with a pillow under your hips creates the perfect angle for comfortable wand control and allows you to experiment with different pressures and movements. The seated position, whether in a chair or against pillows, offers excellent control and can be particularly comfortable for those with mobility considerations.”
Once you’ve added a partner into the mix, you’ll need to get even more experimental with positions to be able to fit a wand into the mix.
“For partnered play, the doggy style position works exceptionally well, allowing the receiving partner to control the wand for clitoral stimulation during penetration,” she adds. “The modified missionary position is another excellent option — with the receiving partner’s hips elevated on a pillow, there’s easy access for wand use while maintaining intimate eye contact and kissing. The spooning position also provides comfort and accessibility, particularly for longer sessions, as the wand can be easily manoeuvred between bodies.”
Lube
It might go without saying once you turn on these powerful motors, but ofc we’re going to say it anyway: use plenty of lube! Magic wand vibrators are one of the most powerful sex toys out there, so you’ll need to add an even more generous than usual dose of water-based lube to the head and your vulva to avoid any awkward chafing, particularly on higher settings.
What to look for in a magic wand vibrator
Aesthetics aside (because we know you’ve got a colour palette in mind), the material, modes, and multi-functionality — AKA whether you can take it in the shower — of your chosen vibe should all be considered before hitting the checkout.
Material
She’s a material girl... meaning she only invests in sex toys made from body-safe or medical-grade silicone that don’t interfere with your downstairs. You also want a non-porous plaything that’s easy to clean and won’t harbour bacteria. “Safety and functionality should be your top priorities,” says Sinclair.
“The most important consideration is finding a body-safe product from a reliable manufacturer. Additionally, understanding how you plan to use your vibrator is crucial for choosing the right one.”
Power
You’ve got two options: rechargeable or mains-powered. Both have their perks — for example, the latter never runs out of charge and typically packs a little more power but isn’t so portable — so it’s about picking what best suits your sexual antics.
Dunk-ability
You might expect all vibrators to be (at least) splashproof, considering squirting is very much a reality for some. But it’s not a given. Luckily, retailers often mark their teasers as either splashproof, water-resistant, or waterproof, so you can enjoy your solo sesh in the privacy of your own (lockable) bathroom — away from prying ears.
“If you’re planning shower or bath play, look for IPX8 certification,” Sinclair recommends, which means it can be immersed in fresh water over 1.5 metres deep for up to 30 minutes. Although IPX7 (meaning it can be submerged up to 1m for no more than 30 mins) is good enough for a quickie, too.
Options
As mentioned, most sexual wellness brands have rethought the classic sex toy, offering wands fitted with a variety of moving modes. The key thing to consider is whether you want a million different options or a reliable few you regularly rotate between.
“For those who enjoy variety, consider how many different modes the device offers,” advises Sinclair. “Since wand vibrators can be quite intense, choose one that offers diverse intensity levels. A flexible neck can also significantly enhance comfort and usability.”
Size
Like we said, size isn’t everything — but if you’re looking for something easier to hold or even *slightly* more discreet than the classic magic wand (although we can’t make any promises), you might want to consider a smaller vibrator.
“Different sizes accommodate various comfort levels and physical needs — especially important for those with limited mobility or if you’re a person of larger size,” says Sinclair.
FAQs about magic wand vibrators
What is a wand vibrator?
As a concept, the wand vibrator has been around for a while, with Japanese brand Hitachi launching the first in 1968. Labelling the device a ‘body massager’, we’re not entirely sure if the brand intended to spark a sex tech revolution.
Instead, horny stay-at-home housewives are often credited for discovering its clit-stimulating powers. But what exactly is a magic wand vibrator? “A magic wand vibrator is a long tool with a nice, sturdy handle that produces deep, rumbly vibrations that resonate throughout the body,” explains Sinclair.
“They’re well-known for their large head, which provides broad stimulation coverage. The weight of the product contributes to those satisfying, deep vibrations that users love.”
Thankfully, sex tech has evolved to create wand vibrators that can be recharged, rather than plugged into the mains, meaning they’re also waterproof. Meanwhile, countless shapes, sizes, colours, and variations of the bobbly-headed toy can be found on sex toy shops across the internet — or even in brick and mortar stores, if you’re feeling retro!
What’s the difference between magic wand vibrators and wand vibrators?
“The term ‘magic wand’ actually refers to a specific product: the Hitachi Magic Wand, which became iconic in the 1970s and is widely credited with popularising the wand category,” explains Sinclair.
“Over time, ‘magic wand’ became almost a generic nickname for wand vibrators the way ‘Kleenex’ did for tissues,” she continues. “So while all magic wands are wand vibrators, not all wand vibrators are magic wands.”
“Today, the category has evolved enormously. Modern wands offer multiple intensity levels, varied vibration patterns, ergonomic designs, rechargeable batteries, and body-safe materials that go far beyond that original design. The wand silhouette has endured because it works: broad surface area, powerful rumbly vibration, and versatility for all bodies.”
Can magic wand vibrators be used internally?
We get it: they feel so good, you want to keep the good vibes going internally, as well as externally. But it’s not recommended to use them inside the vagina or anus without an attachment, Sinclair notes. (Unless you’re using the double-sided LELO Switch.)
“Wand vibrators are not meant to be used internally,” she says. “The best way — if you’re looking to use a magic wand vibrator internally — is to look into adding an attachment.”
Can men use magic wand vibrators?
Short answer: ofc! Although horny housewives are responsible for having re-imagined the classic Hitachi Magic Wand vibrator into a sex toy, these buzzy boys can also be used by anyone, anywhere on the body.
“Magic wand vibrators are universally beneficial pleasure devices that transcend gender boundaries,” Sinclair says. “These powerful tools provide effective stimulation for all body types.”
“For individuals with penises, wand vibrators offer exceptional versatility. The broad head provides excellent stimulation to the glans (head of the penis), while the deep vibrations can enhance sensation along the shaft and at the base near the testicles. External prostate stimulation is easily achieved by applying the wand to the perineum, creating intense, pleasurable sensations.” Don’t forget the nipples, too!
What are the wand sex toy trends in 2026?
When it comes to sex toys in 2026, we’re not just about things that feel good, says Sinclair. We’re also about the things that look good. “Consumers want products that look beautiful on a nightstand, not hidden in a drawer. Aesthetics and discretion are driving purchasing decisions more than ever,” says Sinclair.
Deep vibrations are also taking over from buzzy ones. “People are becoming more educated about what their bodies actually respond to, and they’re seeking that out,” Sinclair explains.”
With that comes more demand for customisable sex toys — including app connectivity, adjustable intensity ranges, and attachments.
