From her critically acclaimed performance as a child psychologist on Adolescence to her oh-so-on-point Princess Anne in seasons three and four of The Crown, Erin Doherty has wowed us time and time again. So, when we found out that she stars in psychological thriller, Reawakening, we added it to our 'watch list' quicker than our fan has been running during the recent heatwaves.

What is Reawakening about?
According to its official synopsis, Reawakening is a "powerful, psychologically piercing, and searingly emotional" film from BAFTA-nominated writer-director Virginia Gilbert.
Reawakening tells the story of parents, John and Mary, who have "lived in an agonising limbo of grief and guilt for the past ten years." Why? Well, their only child, Clare (played by Erin Doherty), ran away from home when she was 14, leaving no trace regarding her whereabouts... until she reappears out of the blue.
"When Clare returns, now a young woman of 24, Mary is overjoyed," the synopsis goes on. "But John comes to believe that Clare is not who she claims to be. As old tensions resurface, a gripping search for the truth unfolds." Talk! About! Intense!
What have critics said about Reawakening?
Need more reasons to watch Reawakening? Although we're sure you're pretty convinced already, it won't hurt to mention that the movie has an impressive 82% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
"This is a movie that made me think in a lingering and at times discomforting way," one viewer said in their five-star review on the platform. Meanwhile, in its review of the film, the Irish Independent said: "A fascinating study of grief and redemption. Erin Doherty is superb."
