There's no shortage of incredible British actors to fill your evenings with, and from Daniel Mays and Stephen Graham to Suranne Jones and Leslie Manville, we've got a back catalogue of people we love watching on screen.
And while our time right now is maximised watching the World Cup (what are we going to do when it's over?!), often we're short of things to do after work. We've taken up hobbies, joined gym classes and binge-listened to podcasts, and yet we're still keen for new recommendations of things to watch.
If you've never seem I Am... may we recommend the Channel 4 anthology series, due to its brilliant cast and thoughtful storylines. Here's what you need to know about it, if you've never seen it.
What is I Am about?
I Am is an anthology series (meaning each episode stands alone and doesn't link to the next episode) which puts strong female stories at the centre of it. It covers everything from a mother worried about her daughter's social media use, to a woman who falls in love and discovers a dark secret.
In Leslie Manville's episode, she plays a woman named Maria whose approaching 60th birthday sparks clarity around her feelings of discontentment. Suranne, meanwhile, plays a woman named Victoria, who from the outside has a beautiful life, but underneath, is struggling with severe anxiety around projecting her perfection.
Who's in the I Am cast?
A brilliant, brilliant selection of actors! Who all take centre stage in separate episodes, telling an emotional or empowering story:
- Vicky McClure as Nicola in I Am Nicola
- Samantha Morton as Kirsty in I Am Kirsty
- Gemma Chan as Hannah in I Am Hannah
- Suranne Jones as Victoria in I Am Victoria
- Letitia Wright as Danielle in I Am Danielle
- Lesley Manville as Maria in I Am Maria
- Kate Winslet as Ruth in I Am Ruth

As well as the women who take on central roles in I Am, the supporting cast are also stellar, including:

- Leemore Marrett Jr.
- Isabelle Lewis
- Amelie Lewis
- Anthony Newell
