2023
We start off in the modern day, with Detective Shahara Hasan who is led to the body in Whitechapel, east London by a scared young boy named Syed, who says he isn’t the killer.
In this timeline, Shahara is trying to figure out who the shooter is when she comes across a young boy named Elias Mannix, who has been adopted by the mysterious Morley family who we learn have a lot to hide.
As the series progresses, we also learn that this is the timeline in which a catastrophic bomb is due to be detonated, potentially killing hundreds of thousands of people in London. So, will Shahara be able to prevent it? And who is Elias Mannix?
1941
Then, we’re transported back to the Blitz where we meet charming Detective Charles Whiteman.
It’s the Second World War and Charles is getting calls from a mysterious woman, who gives him illegal tasks to do and ends each call with ‘know you are loved’.
Who is calling Charles and will his dodgy dealings be found out by his fellow detectives? Or, is something more sinister at large?
1890
In this timeline, Detective Alfred Hillinghead is the one to discover the body on Longharvest Lane, Whitechapel.
Here, he meets a journalist named Henry who was taking photos of the crime scene and we sense some major tension between the two. What’s going on between them?
Plus, the journalist has a photo that proves an influential man named Julian Harker was at the scene of the crime. But, when Alfred investigates, we realise that Julian is a lot more dangerous than we could have ever first thought.
2053
We’re back to the future with Detective Iris Maplewood who, when discovering the body on Longharvest Lane, finds out that the victim is actually alive! Plot twist, much?
In this timeline, we also meet the leader of this futuristic, new society who bares a spitting resemblance to Julian Harker and has a very familiar name.
Plus, we learn the existence of opposing organisations called KYAL and Chapel Perilous. Who are they? Well, watch Bodies to find out!
