While the 51-year-old actor has been relatively quiet about her private life, she has recently gone public with her boyfriend, a British spine surgeon named Nick Beresford-Cleary. But who exactly is he, and what has Hannah said about their relationship? Here's what you need to know.
So who is Hannah Waddingham’s boyfriend?
According to a description on the Grovesnor Orthopaedic Partners website, Nick is a consultant spine surgeon practicing at Princess Grace Hospital and King Edward VII Hospital in London.
“He delivers a high volume elective and emergency spine practice encompassing all aspects of adult spinal surgery including degenerative pathologies, spinal trauma, spinal oncology and adult spinal deformity,” the website explains.
What has Hannah Waddingham said about her relationship?
Speaking to Women’s Health UK in May, Hannah revealed she was in a happy new relationship, but that it’s taken her a long time to get to a place where she was ready to date again. She was previously in a 10-year relationship with Italian businessman Gianluca Cugnetto, with whom she shares one daughter, Kitty, born in 2014. The pair split in 2022.
“It’s taken me eight years,” she said, when asked about getting into a new relationship. “I didn’t really have the space mentally or emotionally for that. I’ve hunkered down and focused on my girl and me. [But] now I’m ready to stick my head above the parapet a bit more.”
When asked if he was a “very good-looking parapet,” Hannah laughed and replied, “It is. And it’s really lovely too, obviously, my relationship. But the best thing about it is, firstly, being happy and strong in myself.”

The couple were first pictured looking cozy at a horse racing event in Cheltenham in March 2026—though it’s unclear how long they were together before the sighting.
Back in October 2024 on the Table for Two podcast, Hannah described her love life as “dry,” adding, “I’m so busy and just a bit picky. I want a guy that scoops me up and goes, ‘I’ve got you, I don’t care if you’ve got your make-up on or not, I’m happy to lie in bed with you and have Marmite on toast and a glass of milk.’ And just be a lovely positive, charismatic soul. I’m 50 and I’m like, ‘Dude, if you are not going to step up, step off and be gone. Sod off until someone fabulous comes along.’”
She added, “I’d rather hang with my girlfriends and gay friends and be respected. What’s my deal breaker? I’m going to be very basic—a bad kiss. You know that nothing else works, nothing else is going to work. But also eye contact, eye contact is key.”
