Attention, attention: We may very well have a brand-new musical couple in our midst—you know, aside from Maren Morris and Cassadee Pope. Your two favorite Grammy-nominated bedroom pop singers, Steve Lacy and Omar Apollo, seem to be getting cozy with each other, if their latest joint selfie is any indicator.
In case you haven’t seen, the musicians posted a very, *ahem*, interesting photo to social media recently, which featured Omar hugging Steve from behind and looking super loved up, sparking dating rumors in the process. And as a little extra nugget, the photo had a bold caption that read “hoes mad.”

Could Omar and Steve be dating?
I mean, sure. Why not??
“I really love dance, all styles, contemporary, tap, hip-hop. I love modern dance. But growing up, I couldn’t explore that ’cause I never wanted anyone to call me gay before I told them I was anything, gay or whatever, you know?” Steve previously said of his sexuality in a 2025 interview with Rolling Stone. “It’d probably be easier if it were just like, ‘I’m g-word,’ but I’m not g-word. It’s fluid, and queer is a lot harder to explain than just being a gay dude,” he added.
In 2023, Steve noted in an interview with Variety that he “didn’t really come out.” He added, “I didn’t try to, it just kinda happened. I don’t care to announce who I’m into sexually. I think it’s silly. I never felt I needed to come out.”
Omar was initially ambiguous about discussing his sexuality in his music, but openly embraced his identity as a gay man deeper into his career. “I feel like in the beginning, I was trying to be mysterious and stuff, but now I’m just like—I’m very gay, so I’m just like, whatever,” he said in a 2024 interview with NPR. “It’s funny, every time I’m doing an interview, they’re like, ‘You don’t like to…’ I’m like, ‘Damn, do I really come off like that?’ But no, I’m totally about it. Maybe I was trying to keep the mystique, you understand? But I don’t even care anymore.”

Funny you ask! Yes—in June, Omar shared a pic of him on FaceTime with Steve shirtless, sweaty, and showing off his abs. To add even more fuel to the fire, Omar captioned the pic “Kissin Steve thru the iphone” with an added heart eyes emoji.

Is this the first time Steve and Omar have been linked?
Nope! Fans of theirs on Reddit have previously speculated about a potential relationship between the two, believing that the pair had a past fling sometime between 2022 and 2024 that might have ended badly.
Unfortunately, neither has confirmed that they were in a relationship then, or that they are currently in a relationship now, so only time will tell!
