Kate Middleton has reportedly given up trying to mend things between Prince William and Prince Harry. The brothers, who were once very close, are rumoured to have an ongoing (and growing) rift between them, arguably sparked by Harry's decision to step down as a senior working royal and move to the US several years ago. In the years that have followed, there have been reports of "olive branches" and supposed reunions, but according to one royal source, now even the Princess of Wales is tired of playing peacemaker.
"Kate is naturally a peacemaker and has been working behind the scenes to try and get the brothers in the same room again," a royal insider told RadarOnline of the Princess of Wales' desire for her husband and his brother to reunite. "But William just is not up for it, and she has now told him she will stop pressing him and follow his lead."
Previously speaking about the tension between himself and his brother, the Duke of Sussex said: "We're certainly on different paths at the moment but I'll always be there for him and as I know he'll always be there for me."
"We don't see each other as much as we used to because we're so busy, but I love him dearly," Harry went on. "The majority of this stuff is created out of nothing, but as brothers, you know, you have good days, you have bad days."
In contrast, the Prince of Wales has said very little about their relationship – only mentioning his brother in passing earlier this year after a long period of silence on the matter. "I want to create a world in which my son is proud of what we do, in a world and a job that actually does impact people's lives for the better," William said of his plans for the monarchy's future.
He continued, "That is caveated with, I hope we don't go back to some of the practices in the past that Harry and I grew up in. And I'll do everything I can to make sure we don't regress in that situation."
William's surprise mention of Harry after many years of silence prompted some fans to question if this meant a reconciliation could be on the cards. Never say never, we guess!
