As well as her poise, her philanthropic ventures, and her ability to parent three kids with absolute ease, Kate Middleton is also known for her impeccable fashion sense. While she does have to follow a lot of rules when it comes to her royal outfits, the Princess of Wales still manages to add in elements of her personality.
Oftentimes, Kate's clothes hold symbolic meaning beyond simply looking good. Take the necklace she wore for her solo appearance at this year's Anzac Day event, for example. The Princess of Wales' tanzanite necklace certainly caught the attention of fans tuning in to watch her pay her respects... and for good reason.
Kate's rarely-seen G. Collins and Sons Tanzanite Pendant Necklace is thought to have been a gift from her husband, Prince William. She wore it to attend the Anzac Day Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey in London on April 25. William was absent from the event, but Kate's decision to wear a necklace he'd gifted her meant the future King was there in spirit. How sweet!?
Per Kate's Closet, the Princess of Wales' tanzanite necklace features an inverted pear-shaped 6.3 carat tanzanite pendant, surrounded by .87 carat of diamonds and set in platinum. The stunning necklace has a retail price of £8,400, and Kate also owns the matching earrings. Naturally.
But the Princess' necklace wasn't the only piece of poignant jewellery she wore for the occasion. Kate also wore Princess Diana's Saudi Sapphire Drop Earrings. These sparkling Mappin & Webb drop earrings have presumably been passed down from her late mother-in-law via William.
The choice of necklace and earrings for Kate's Anzac appearance perfectly colour matched the rest of her outfit. She wore a bespoke navy coat dress from Sarah Burton at Givenchy, which featured a contrasting white collar. Finishing the blue look, Kate wore a navy hat from Jane Taylor London and a pair of stiletto pumps.
