Happy 2025 one and all! It's a year set to be a big one for fans of Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, who after almost seven years away has announced her surprise return to social media!
Over on Instagram under the simple handle @Meghan, an account that's thought to belong to the Duchess has posted a black and white video of Meghan running on the beach in casual clothes, then writing '2025' in the sand.
According to PEOPLE, the video was even shot by none other than Prince Harry! Shout out to the royal for displaying major #Instahusband abilities already. The clip was posted without a caption.
Also reported by PEOPLE, despite Meghan and her husband Harry having spoken out about the harms of social media, online bullying and trolling in the past, the Duchess is apparently "excited to return to social media as a way to reconnect with communities around the world and share updates about the projects she's working on, looking to lead by example" to show how socials can be used for good.
Prior to starting a relationship with Prince Harry and having to delete her social media accounts, Meghan used to run a popular lifestyle blog, The Tig, which she closed down in April 2017 - a few months before her engagement to Prince Harry was announced.
In a statement at the time she wrote: "After close to three beautiful years on this adventure with you, it’s time to say goodbye to The Tig. What began as a passion project (my little engine that could) evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun, and frivolity. You’ve made my days brighter and filled this experience with so much joy. Keep finding those Tig moments of discovery, keep laughing and taking risks, and keep being 'the change you wish to see in the world'."
Everyone's clicking on...
Meghan might have hinted her return to socials was coming last summer, when during a joint interview with Prince Harry she spoke about the impact of social media and her children. "Our kids are young - they're three and five. They're amazing. But all you want to do as parents is protect them."
She added: "So as we can see what's happening in the online space, we know that there's a lot of work to be done there, and we're just happy to be able to be a part of change for good."
