Buckingham Palace has issued a statement updating the public on Queen Camilla's health.
The update comes following a prior statement, on 5 November, when it was revealed that she had a chest infection, leading her to be absent from events.
"Her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest," a statement from the Palace, which was shared with People, read. "With great regret, Her Majesty has therefore had to withdraw from her engagements for this week, but she very much hopes to be recovered in time to attend this weekend’s Remembrance events as normal. She apologizes to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result."
As a result, the Queen missed this week's annual Field of Remembrance event at Westminster Abbey on Thursday, 7 November. Attending in her place was Birgitte, the Duchess of Gloucester.
However, while Royal Family fans may well have hoped to see Queen Camilla at this weekend's Remembrance Sunday events, Buckingham Palace have since issued another statement to explain that she has been advised to continue resting.
“Following doctors’ guidance to ensure a full recovery from a seasonal chest infection, and to protect others from any potential risk, Her Majesty will not attend this weekend’s Remembrance events," the statement reads. "While this is a source of great disappointment to The Queen, she will mark the occasion privately at home and hopes to return to public duties early next week.”
Our thoughts are with the Queen as she recovers.
