It's been a hard week for the royal family, who bid farewell to their patriarch, Prince Philip, at his funeral in Windsor on Saturday afternoon. While they'll all still be clouded with grief, some element of normality must gradually return, and it seems Kate Middleton has been making an effort with that.

The Duchess of Cambridge was spotted out shopping on Monday afternoon with her children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, on London's King's Road. A shop worker, Alexa, shared the news on Twitter that her colleagues had been pleasantly surprised to have welcomed the royal and her young children into the store.

"I’ve always been a Kate Middleton fan... today she was in one of my stores on the Kings Road with George and Charlotte," wrote Alexa on social media. "What the team told me about how she was with them and how the kids were with each other makes me like her even more!" she continued.

Alexa went on to detail that she wasn't personally working herself while Kate and the children were there, but did share a sweet insight into what Prince George and Princess Charlotte were like according to her colleagues.

"I wasn’t there but she talked to my team, the kids had a budget that they stuck to and paid for their own things with their own money," she posted. "Just normal well brought up children and a normal parent trying to do the right thing and that’s just lovely!"

It's not clear exactly what kind of shop the Cambridges dropped into, but there is a toy store on the King's Road which sounds like just the place the children would want to spend their hard-earned pocket money.

Everyone's clicking on...

Seven-year-old Prince George, five-year-old Princess Charlotte, and their two-year-old little brother Prince Louis were notably absent from the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral on Saturday. Not only could this have been in part due to COVID restrictions, meaning only 30 people could attend, but it was also most likely because they're still very young. Seeing tearful family members and the procession of the coffin would have been a bit much for any child, and when you consider the whole thing was being televised it's no surprise the decision was made for them to stay at home.

After the service at St George's Chapel in Windsor, Kate Middleton and Prince William were pictured walking and talking with Prince Harry, in a hopeful sign of some reconciliation.
