Following the sad news that Prince Philip has died at the age of 99, the Royal Family have now released further details about his funeral, which is set to take place this Saturday (17 April) at 3pm in St George’s Chapel in Windsor.
In a pre-pandemic world, the original plans indicated that 800 mourners would have been invited to attend the service, but due to coronavirus-related restrictions only 30 guests are able to pay their respects on the day in person.
The original 800 guests would have included a mix of family, friends, representatives from the Duke of Edinburgh's military units, the charities for which he was patron, and people associated with the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme.
Now, it's been confirmed that the attendees will be as follows:

Notably absent from this list are the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. This could be down to a combination of them being too young, COVID restrictions their parents wanting to keep them out of the spotlight as much as possible. Equally, part of the funeral's itinerary includes members of the Royal Family taking part in the procession on foot, immediately behind The Duke of Edinburgh's Coffin, together with staff from His Royal Highness’s Household, which could be overwhelming for a young child.
Prince Harry flew into the UK from Los Angeles earlier on in the week and is believed to be quarantining ahead of the funeral this weekend. He shared a moving and personal tribute to his grandfather, which much like his brother Prince William's, referenced the Duke's sense of humour and work ethic.

The Queen also decided on a last minute change of dress code for the funeral, which dictates that none of the male members of the family will be wearing a military uniform. It's thought that this decision was made so that Prince Harry, who was stripped of his honorary military titles when he stepped down from his senior working position, wasn't the only one in civilian attire.
