Yesterday was Mother's Day in the UK, and to mark the occasion, the Cambridge childrenPrince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – made some very sweet (and poignant) homemade cards, not only for their mother, Kate Middleton, but for their 'Granny Diana', Princess Diana.

A new post on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's Instagram account explained that the family have a tradition of making a card remembering their grandmother Diana, who sadly none of the children were able to meet, every year.

The official Kensington Royal account also shared that each card for Diana contained a sweet message from George, Charlotte and Louis, with Prince George's reading: "Dear Granny Diana, Happy Happy Mother's Day. I love you very much and think of you always, sending lots of love from George". He finished his message with a series of kisses too.

Princess Charlotte's offering also featured a sweet tribute to the Princess of Wales, who died 31 August 1997 in Paris, along with a multi-coloured heart and stickers. Charlotte's card also revealed her adorable nickname for her father Prince William. "Dear Granny Diana, I am thinking of you on Mother's Day," her card began. "I love you very much, Papa is missing you. Lots of love, Charlotte".

Given that little Prince Louis is only two-years-old, his card was lighter on the word front but still equally as touching. His featured a painted heart on a green background with the simple words 'from Louis'.

The photos of the three cards were posted along with a drawing of a landscape, featuring trees and birds, (which looks to have been created by Prince George, given his message on the next slide is also written on a landscape piece of paper, rather than portrait like Charlotte and Louis').

Everyone's clicking on...

A caption acknowledging that Mother's Day can be a very difficult day for many also accompanied the artwork and messages, reading: "This year Mother’s Day will be different once again. Many of us will be apart from our loved ones, but looking forward to a time in the not too distant future when we can give our mother a hug again.

"But for those experiencing bereavement, today may be particularly challenging. Each year on Mother’s Day, George, Charlotte and Louis make cards remembering their Granny, Diana, for William. Whatever your circumstances, we are thinking of you this Mother’s Day 💐 "

We think the tributes are a wonderful way to remember Princess Diana by.
