Summer is fast approaching (yay!), and as those longer, sunnier days draw closer, we can't help but get the itch to overhaul our home in preparation for all the garden parties and balcony brunches we intend to host. So, what are the interior trends to look out for if you, too, are giving your house a summer refresh?
This season, we're already seeing a lot of colours and patterns when it comes to interior trends. Whether it's a muted sage green or something brighter, like a pop of cobalt, colours are really making their way onto our Pinterest boards of late. As for patterns, stripes are big right now, and this is a trend we're seeing across fashion, too. Beyond colours and stripes, natural textures like rattan are also appearing in a lot of homeware collections.
If all of the above sounds like a bit of you, then a trip to Sainsbury's (or, at the least, the online store) needs to be on your to-do list. You can shop all of those summer interior trends at Habitat right now, with some pieces costing as little as £7. Here are 8 of our favourite Habitat at Sainsbury's homeware must-buys that are on-trend for summer...
Striped vase
Combining two of this year's summer interior trends – colours and stripes – this hand-painted vase from Sainsbury's looks like it ought to cost way more than £14. If pink is not your thing, you can also pick it up in yellow, orange, or green, meaning you can match it to your interior palette or your favourite flowers.
Trinket box
Ideal for tidying away clutter, like jewellery, lighters, or even loose change, this adorable trinket box costs just £7 but looks like a luxurious find you might have brought back from an overseas vacation. There are several different colour options to choose from, and you can also get a matching coffee table tray.
Patterned throw
Honestly, everything from the Margo Selby X Habitat collab is an absolute steal, but this throw in particular is a must-buy bargain. Not only does the spotted jacquard pattern look seriously expensive, but the pastel colour palette is so on trend for spring/summer 2026. Ideal for wrapping up in the garden once the sun has gone down... but the drinks are still flowing!
Patterned cushion
We love a matching moment here at Cosmopolitan UK, so when we saw that stunning throw also came with a matching cushion, we had to add both to our basket. Like the throw, this pillow features a spotted jacquard pattern on one side, but flip it over, and you'll find sage green stripes. So trendy!
Storage basket
You've got the throw, and you've got the cushion; now you need somewhere to keep them when you're too warm to actually use them. Ideal for just that is this stylish open weave storage basket, which is an elevated take on the rattan homeware trend.
Coupe glasses
TikTok is (rightfully) all about the skinny wine glass stem, but we're here to make a case for the chunky champagne glass. These hand-blown coupes feature a distinctive solid block stem and generous bowl – ideal for filling with something fizzy when you're celebrating with friends this summer.
Cocktail glasses
Not a fan of fizz? Pour yourself a glass of, well, whatever it is you fancy into these eye-catching martini glasses, which feature an oh-so on-trend cobalt blue stem.
Table mats
Keeping with the cobalt blue colour scheme, these table mats also bring in another trend du jour: stripes! As well as being stylish, the ribbed texture of these placemats adds a touch of luxury, but they cost under £10. Best of all? You'll basically feel like you're holidaying on the Amalfi Coast from your balcony.
