When it comes to this season's jeans trends, it turns out bigger might actually be better. Yep, the unofficial uniform of ‘00s sk8er bois and ‘90s boy bands has had a chic AF rebrand for AW25. At least according to Stella McCartney, Zimmermann, Khaite, Coach, Balenciaga and Markgong, who sent models parading down the runways swamped in swathes of denim. Consider this all the confirmation you need – baggy jeans are officially in.
Before you dismiss the silhouette as ‘not for you,’ hear us out. Similar to a wide-leg or barrel cut in terms of roominess in the legs, baggy jeans have an exaggerated and intentional oversized fit throughout the waist, hip and thigh to create a loose and slouchy aesthetic. They are easily the comfiest denim style to wear and embrace a relaxed, laid-back vibe.
But that does make it hard to know what shoes to wear with your baggy jeans. Especially as you may not even see your footwear buried under voluminous hems. Well, we're pleased to report there are more options than you might initially think. Whether you want to add a polished finish for a grown-up take on the trend with sleek, pointed-toe ankle boots or lean into the cool and casual with your go-to trainers, keep scrolling for all the inspo you need.
With chunky dad trainers
We hate to break it to you, but not all jeans work with trainers. Luckily, baggy jeans do. We think they look especially great with a pair of chunky dad trainers, as the slouchy fabric balances the heaviness of the shoe.
With biker boots
In similar logic, biker boots also work with baggy jeans. The excess fabric can handle being worn with such solid soles. And, thanks to the roominess of the legs, it doesn't matter how tall your boots are as they'll easily fit under your jeans.
With ballet flats
If you want to contrast against the voluminous cut, try pairing your baggy jeans with ballet flats. The thin shoes will allow your jeans to pool around your ankles and maybe even drag on the floor, emphasising the laid-back style.

With heels
Petite gals looking to rock baggy jeans may find themselves needing to don some heels. With *so* much fabric involved, it's easy to look swamped in the style and end up with the jeans wearing you, not the other way around. Elongate your legs with as many inches as you can handle walking in, but even a pair of kitten heels will make a big difference.
Tucked into boots
Channel Princess Diana and tuck your jeans into your boots. The key to pulling off this look is to make sure enough fabric bunches above the top of the boots to create a balloon, puff hem. Opting for high-waisted baggy jeans will help keep a longline silhouette overall.
Anything with a pointed toe
If your baggy jeans reach all the way to the floor, they may hide your feet completely. In this instance, wear a pair of shoes with a pointed toe, so at least the very tips of your footwear can peep out from beneath the hems. Pointed-toe shoes have a narrow silhouette that elongates your foot and, in turn, your leg, creating the illusion of height. This long line balances out the volume of your jeans and adds polish as well as much-needed structure to what would otherwise be a shapeless and bulky ensemble.
