1. I'll wear it with EVERYTHING
It's the top that will go with your jeans, your work trousers, under that summery dress, with a leather jacket, a sleeveless waistcoat, heck, if you wanted to, you could even wear it in bed. It'd be rude to the rest of your clothes NOT to buy it.
2. I can dress it both up and down
Getting double the wear out of something really does make its purchase justifiable.
3. It's just SO on trend
Everyone else has a suede skirt, so you should have one, too.
4. It's in the sale
At £40 that dress was pretty ugly, but with 30% off, you can suddenly see its benefits!
5. I can always take it back
Deciding in the shop is just SO stressful. I'll buy it, take it home and I can always bring it back if I don't like it... I never will.
6. It's an investment piece
You'll basically be able to wear it for the rest of your life. That's GREAT cost-per-wear.
Everyone's clicking on...
7. It's a classic, it'll never go out of fashion
(Another way of phrasing the above).
8.YES I have 20 pairs of high heels, but not in that colour!
So really, it's like a whole new shoe.
9. I won't buy lunch for the next week
Who cares if the jumper is £30, just pretend you'll save the money elsewhere and all that guilt evaporates
10. I NEED something new because I have a wedding/interview/birthday/ (delete as appropriate)
It's not YOUR fault you've been invited to an occasion that requires, no, demands a new outfit.
11. I haven't bought anything new in aaaages
So, naturally, it's only fair you drop £300 in Topshop.
12. It feels like really good quality, so I can wear it next summer, too
Yes, but it did also just cost you £6, so the chances are unlikely, aren't they...
13. But I've wanted a yellow, fringed, sleeveless jacket for SO LONG
Well, since I saw it on the mannequin, anyway
14. [Insert style icon's name] wore something similar last week
If a celebrity just wore the same dress, then buying it can never be a mistake.
15. If you divide the cost by the amount of times I'll wear it...
It's basically free..
16. PAY DAY!
I'm basically as rich as Kanye right now #YOLO
17. It's doesn't quite fit but it's SO cheap
I'll just wear it a bit 'oversized'. That's a trend now anyway, isn't it?
18. It's a symbol of my reinvention
This isn't just about a skinny trouser. It's a symbol for the NEW ME, and you can't put a price on that.
19. I did go to the gym/work late/stay in (delete as appropriate) last weekend...
So really I deserve a treat.
20. If I pay for it on my credit card it doesn't really count
That's a 'life cost', not an unnecessary splurge
