High-waisted Topshop Joni jeans and a midriff crop top were the go-to fashions circa 2014 [insert war flashbacks, here]. And proving that it remains elite no short of a decade on, is Dua Lipa, who has brought back the latter with a mesh version of the extra short T-shirt trend. Though, to note, we have since swapped out the skinny pants for baggier counterparts... thankfully.
Overnight, the pop star took to Instagram with a post to celebrate the success of her latest album. "RADICAL OPTIMISM IS THE #2 ALBUM IN THE US 🇺🇸❤️!!!!!!!!!!!!!," Dua wrote to caption her eight-part carousel.
Now, as banging as the tunes are and as much as every stream is deserved, it's not the songs we're gushing over this morning but instead, the boob-grazing crop top Dua is donning in the picture fronting her post. Warning: 'Tis very, very short.
The white mesh crop top has been paired with a triangle satin bra and a high-waisted matching satin skirt, making for, IMO, the perfect festival outfit. It's equal parts light, airy, risqué and on-trend. AKA, perfect for frolicking in a field and dancing to your favourite musicians.
As thankful as we are to Dua for introducing such fashion inspo, credit must be given to her stylist, Jahleel Weaver, who was the creative genius behind the look. But are we surprised? After all, he was the artist who delivered us Dua's pantless Marc Jacobs number on this year's Met Gala red carpet. Snaps for the stylish, boundary-pushing pair!
And with that, we welcome summer 2024 with open arms, short skirts and even shorter crop tops. Bring on the sunshine.
