Earlier today, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made a surprise appearance at Westminster Abbey for a service of commemoration and thanksgiving to mark Anzac Day (the national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand). Prince William and Kate Middleton attended the ceremony on behalf of Queen Elizabeth and, before the church service, William laid a wreath at the Cenotaph.
For the occasion, the Duchess re-wore one of her most recognisable outfits: an ivory Alexander McQueen coat dress - the same design that Kate wore to Princess Charlotte's christening back in 2015, and again in 2018 at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal wedding. At today's proceedings, both the Duke and Duchess wore bright red poppy pins on their lapels, with the flower a symbol of sacrifice and remembrance.
One detail we weren't expecting to see, however, was the Duchess' headband. While Kate has sported countless hats, fascinators and headbands at public appearances over the years, this extra-large Alice band is one of the most memorable ones due to its sheer size.
Designed by milliner Jane Taylor, the white bouclé style features a significant amount of padding, along with a black velvet bow on the reverse.
The Duchess then finished the look with pearl drop earrings, a matching clutch bag and a pair of black pumps.
