Millennials everywhere rejoice! The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary special has finally arrived on Disney+, reuniting us with Miley Cyrus as she reprises her iconic role for one night only. However, while it was great to see Hannah back on our screens, one person who was obviously missing from the special episode was Emily Osment.

Emily Osment played Miley/Hannah's best friend Lily Truscott and was a beloved part of the series, however she was nowhere to be seen during the hour long special.

The anniversary episode aired on Disney+ this morning and sees Miley Cyrus return to the sets of Hannah Montana, go through special pieces in her archive collection, be interviewed by Alex Cooper and perform some of Hannah's iconic songs, as the show celebrates 20 years since its first ever episode aired on Disney Channel.

While many of Miley's family members made appearances throughout the episode, we never get a cameo from Emily. So why was she missing?

Well on her Instagram last night (23 March) Emily shared a video of herself on set of the show she is currently filming Georgie and Mandy, and explained her filming commitments were why she couldn't take part in the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary special.

She said: "We are at the Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage set, and that’s why I was not able to be a part of the 20-year reunion, because we are here shooting our show."

She went onto write in the comments about her love for the show, and went onto thank the fans of the series for their support over the years, writing: "Thank you for letting me into your living rooms and I hope to still be there many years from now. Would never be where I am without you guys, working on another beautiful show I love so dearly."

Also missing from the episode was Mitchel Musso who played Miley and Lily's friend Oliver. He shared his own statement expressing his appreciation for being part of the show on his own Instagram profile.

He also gave a special shoutout to Miley and the rest of his cast-mates, adding: "Miley, Emily, Jason, Billy Ray, Moises, and the whole crew at Disney — you became my family through all the real, messy, beautiful moments. Thank you for believing in a goofy kid from Texas who wore some questionable outfits with a haircut like that."

The new Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary special is available to watch on Disney+ now.
