The brand-new adventure reality show The Hunt: Predator vs Prey kicks off tonight on Channel 4, for your next tense TV fix after The Traitors.
With a £100k prize pot on the line, contestants are thrown into a game of survival where they must literally hunt, or be hunted.
It’s Traitors meets SAS, with contestants playing Squid Game-esque challenges in a giant outdoor arena.
If you’re wondering where the series takes place, here’s the surprising location of the remote forest it’s filmed in…
Where is The Hunt: Predator vs Prey filmed?
Despite looking somewhat like a typical British woodland, the series was actually filmed in Bulgaria!
The show takes place in a vast, 100-acre stretch of dense forest just outside Gabrovo, a small city in the Balkan Mountains.
In this Hunger Games style arena, the contestants roam the unforgiving woodland, Katniss Everdeen-style, in essentially an elaborate game of tag.
Channel 4 commissioner Lee McMurray says they purposely combined elements of The Hunger Games, Dune and Star Wars to create “ their own distinctive world”.
And the forest is apparently familiar to coyotes and wild boars, which adds an extra layer of tension. Perhaps there’s a chance contestants will become ‘prey’ in more ways than the show intended..
The contestants also have a luxury house to wind down after their daily hunt, where an elimination ceremony called ‘The Cull’ takes place.
When is The Hunt: Predator vs Prey on?
