The last two episodes of Love Island have been absolutely packed with drama and, surprisingly, most of it has happened in the main villa, despite four of the Islanders enjoying a 'sleepover' with the new bombshells.
To recap, Megan and Conor – who are coupled up with Tommy and Emily respectively – have been getting closer in recent days. Word of this got to Tommy, via Shakira and Harry, and he confronted Megan in bed, resulting in fall out number one. The following day, Megan and Conor headed to the terrace where they shared a kiss, leading to fall out number two when she confessed what had happened to Tommy.
During the confrontation, things got pretty heated, with Megan arguably leading the charge. To that end, I was quite disappointed when none of the girls in the villa called her out on this. Don't get me wrong, I am a girl's girl. A feminist. A loyal defender of women supporting women. But, in saying that, I also think it's important that we speak up when one of our pals isn't being their best self and I'm never afraid to tell my friends what they need to hear, rather than what they want to hear.
That doesn't mean the girls in the villa shouldn't offer Megan a shoulder to cry on or words of advice during these clearly uncomfortable times, but they ought to point out that she needs to take some accountability in this situation. Thankfully, I'm not alone in feeling this way, as plenty of viewers are echoing much the same opinion over on X.
"ARE THESE GIRLS HAVING A LAUGH????" one person shared, adding: "After Meg's meltdown when Dejon TALKED to Malisha but Megan doesn't need to feel bad about kissing Connor???"
"Double standards are crazyyyy," another fan agreed. "The girls laughing at Tommy being upset Megan's kissed someone but if one of the guys does it it's world war."
"Why are the girls agreeing with Megan?" someone else questioned.
Elsewhere on X, viewers pointed out that Megan's behaviour has made them want to – gasp – stick up for a man. And honestly, I'm kinda pissed that I've been made to feel this way too.
"I can't believe she's making me defend a MAN but TOMMY GET BEHIND ME," one fan joked.
With all that being said, this is Love Island and Megan has every right to get to know whoever she wants. Ultimately, she's in there to find love like the rest of the Islanders. The issue here is how she's handled the situation with Tommy, not necessarily the kiss with Conor – although, it's clearly broken Tommy's heart.
One fan summed it up perfectly, writing on X: "I'm torn because I don't like how Megan is treating Tommy but this is Love Island and Conor and Megan suit way more... like what do we do here?"
