Why isn't Love Island on Saturday nights?

Since Love Island began 13 seasons ago, the show has never aired a traditional episode on the Saturday night. Instead they share a selection of unseen clips of the Islanders in the villa, in an hour long episode called 'Unseen Bits'.

Previous contestants have revealed we don't get to see a fresh new episode on Saturday nights because the Islanders get the day off from filming and cleaners head into the Villa to do a major clean.

"What happens is, it gives them a day to clean the villa, and you take your mics off, and normally we go to the beach," season three's Kem Cetinay explained on This Morning back in 2017.

How many weeks is Love Island on for?

Usually Love Island runs for around eight weeks throughout June and July, usually ending the last week of July or first week of August. If this series is likely to follow a similar date pattern then it's likely to end around the 27th July.
