Race Across the World is back on BBC One, with five pairs competing in a 14,000km race from China to India.

One of the teams on this year's show is young couple from Carmarthen in Wales - Fin, 18, and Sioned, 19.

The duo are hoping to swap their "small-town" lifestyle for a world of adventure on the show.

Following the first episode, which aired on Wednesday 23rd April, fans praised the couple, as they opened up about their relationship and Fin's battle with type one diabetes.

"They look like they have such a lovely relationship. Great to see Fin raising awareness on Type 1 diabetes as well," one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

"Fin and Sioned are actually my faves so far #raceacrosstheworld" another said.

Sioned, 19, and Fin, 18, are a couple from Wales who are taking part in Race Across the World 2025.

"Travelling has been something that both of us have wanted to do anyway, so it would have been the start of next year that we would have wanted to go. It would have been this style of travelling as well, back packing, sightseeing, a lot of walking and new activities," Sioned said ahead of the show.

Why did Sioned and Fin sign up for Race Across the World?

Sioned and Fin want to see more of the world and hope that the BBC One show will give them a chance to do that.

"I wanted to travel anyway, so it's a great start for that, but along with discovering more about myself and Fin, just strengthening that bond in a very real and authentic way. We've not really been together just the two of us before so this is something where we will have to rely and depend on each other, we don’t have another choice. A lot about self-discovery I think as well as seeing more of the world in the process," Sioned said.

Fin added: "It’s a way to see if me and her can be together basically, if it can work forever. A challenge to see if it will make or break us."

What is Sioned and Fin's strategy for Race Across the World?

It seems the pair didn't really have a game plan before going on the show, with Sioned saying: "We’ve spoken about this - not really! Its more of a go with the flow thing for us."

"We do want to win but more just see how it goes, see what we see and experience new things," Fin said.

That said, the pair are really into fitness, which could give them an advantage in the race.

"I've been going on a lot of hikes. We’ve been on some walks together. Sioned was trying to learn a bit of Spanish, although that's totally out of the window here!" Fin explained.

"It's been mainly fitness preparations. We did try to do stuff without our phones - try to direct ourselves, but it was hard as our phone was always in our pocket so I'd always reach for it but now we don't have a choice," Sioned added.

Asked how they'll get on without their mobile phones, Sioned revealed: "I don’t feel very comfortable at the minute! It's so out of the norm for us as it's literally in your pocket the whole time."

Good luck, guys!

Race Across the World airs on BBC One on Wednesdays at 9pm.
