While Nate Jacobs will always be the main Euphoria character we love to hate, there's an unlikely person on fans' dislike list this week: Kat.
*Spoilers* During last night's episode [13 February], Kat Hernandez (played by Barbie Ferreira) broke up with boyfriend Ethan Daley (Austin Abrams) by falsely claiming she had a terminal illness during a crying outburst.
When Ethan was sceptical, Kat used that as ammunition to break up with him, saying the fact he was questioning her was the reason they were breaking up. Fans took to social media to share their disappointment in Kat, while also accusing her of gaslighting - a form of emotional abuse which involves psychologically manipulating someone to make them doubt their own sanity.
"Now why did Kat try to sit here and manipulate that boy," one person said, while another put, "Kat saw everyone else’s toxic relationship and once she realised hers wasn’t she self sabotaged the relationship and blamed it on Ethan. [sic]"
Someone else said, "Not Kat calling Ethan for an emergency and making him cancel his rehearsal just so she can gaslight him."
Even Angus Cloud, who plays Fez, took to social media to share his disappointment in Kat. "Kat has no shame lol #Euphoria," the actor wrote, which has since had 1.9k retweets and over 57,000 likes.
