The 2021 series of Love Island came to an end last night [23rd August], and Liam Reardon and Millie Court were named king and queen of the villa. While many viewers took to social media to celebrate the win, others criticised the last segment of the show.

After announcing the couple as winners, Laura Whitmore asked Liam and Millie to stand opposite each other, holding two envelopes - one gold, one black. One of the envelopes read '£50,000' while one read '£0', and Millie had to decide whether she wanted to steal or share the envelope with the money in.

Unsurprisingly (er, possibly because the pair have revealed they love each other) she wanted to share the money - the same as every winning Love Island couple so far.

Many fans have suggested the envelope moment kind of ruins the atmosphere of the final, considering there's never actually that much tension and the pairs always split.

"They really don’t need the envelopes do they. Just kills the whole winning moment," one person wrote. Another put, "The keep/steal thing with the envelopes is always so scuffed and no one ever steals, waste of time, sick of it."

A third said, "The bit with the envelopes is just a waste of my time and embarrassing. The winning couple should choose either love or money not split or steal."
