On last night's Love Island (July 7), we saw Aaron Francis break up with Sharon Gaffka over her reaction to Hugo's comments in the Knowing Me Knowing You challenge, and her uncertainty about whether she wants kids. But fans really weren't happy about the situation, and accused Aaron of dumping Sharon for the wrong reasons.
ICYMI, in the previous episode Hugo made it clear he's not a fan of "fake" girls (whatever that means). His comments upset some of the girls in the villa, particularly Sharon who spoke up about her feelings. Aaron later told the boys he didn't like how "fiery" Sharon's reaction was, saying that he prefers his partners to be "more chill."
His comments have lead fans to accuse him of being misogynistic, especially after he stated "hairy arms" were his biggest turn off, and that he was put off by Sharon's career ambitions. Some viewers even accused Aaron of manipulating the situation, and gaslighting Sharon.
"Aaron telling Sharon that her having an emotional reaction is a red flag... is a red flag š© Who taught these boys how to weaponise relationship psychology?!" tweeted one viewer, "Aaron just admit youāre a misogynist and go. Sharonās had a lucky escape there because the only one giving off āred flagsā is him" added another.
"Aaron is a manipulator and he is full of s***. He is intimidated by Sharon and he should own up to it; instead of making it look like she is the problem. WTF is "fiery"????" said one viewer, while another tweeted "Aaron is the biggest gaslighter- disgustingggggg."
Former Love Islander and winner of the 2019 series Amber Gill also commented on the topic. "Personally I donāt like someone that sticks up for themselves or communicates when they are annoyed. OK Aaron" she tweeted.
It's safe to say most viewers felt the same way about Aaron's behaviour ā after all, this is Love Island 2021, not 1951.
Hereās to fiery women everywhere! ššš
