Per her 90s reign as the inspiration for all things fashion and beauty, there's nothing Jennifer Aniston will do that won't be loved by all. And in recent years, she's been rocking the now-famous 'curve cut' hairstyle, which frames her face with effortless layers.

But with such a name, the style is still quite ominous. So, to really understand what defines the curve cut – as well as who it's best suited to and how to style it – we spoke to hairdresser and co-founder of Centred, Kieran Tudor, who shared all of his expertise.

Ahead, see all there is to know, followed by inspiration pics you're going to want to take to your local salon ASAP! Jen An, we're coming for your look...

What is the curve cut?

The curve cut, sometimes also referred to as the 'C cut', "is a modern take on face-framing layers, shaped into a soft curve that makes hair fall naturally and flatter the face," Kieran says. Traditionally, the layers start at chin length and curve inward, as perfectly demonstrated by Jennifer below.

Who is best suited to the curve cut?

Because of the face-framing layers, Kieran says that "medium to long hair works best" with a curve cut. And when it comes to textures, he emphasises that "straight to wavy" hair "blows out easily" – but more on the blowout and styling technique below.

That said, if you have very fine hair, you may want to avoid the curve cut. "Too many layers – in any hairstyle, not just the curve cut – can take away much-needed weight from the perimeter of finer hair," Kieran says.

In terms of face shape, Kieran shares that oval, round and square face shapes are best suited to the C cut style as "the curve of hair frames and softens features beautifully."

How to style the curve cut

To put it simply, this cut is all about hair that falls into place with minimal effort. To achieve this, first, you're going to want to have layers added to your cut, but going forward, it's all about styling. "A bend under with a brush or tong gives a polished curve," Kieran says. So, with a round brush and your hairdryer, gently dry descending layers inward to cup the face.

For added hold, you can finish with a spritz of hairspray (my favourite is the REDKEN Quick Dry Hairspray) or even add a styling mousse/cream (like the Gisou Honey Infused Styling Cream) to damp hair before drying. This will ensure your style stays all day and doesn't fall limp after a few hours.

When it comes to symmetry, the cut is best worn in a middle parting; however, there are no hard and fast rules!
