When you live in the UK, it is a known fact that you should never get too comfy with nice weather because, beyond the hot, blue skies of summer, a thunderstorm is never too far off in the distance. As a beauty girl, I think I'm pretty good at prepping for these eventualities. Firstly, I always have a brolly and sunnies in my bag, I carry either blotting paper or powder for the SULA I develop on the Tube, and I have a mini perfume at all times for a lil refresh. But the one thing I've really been trying to nail is styling my bob when it's warm and sunny when I leave my flat, but blustery, wet and windy by lunchtime.
In an ideal world, my bob, styled and free as the universe intended, would work no matter the weather, but alas, that's not the case. So, I've had to get crafty with my looks and, actually, in my search for fun, easy and low-maintenance ways to style my hair, I've discovered some looks I've worn on repeat. So I'm sharing my inspo below...
French pin
A French pin is always chic and when you nail the technique, your hair will not budge.
Half up, half down
This style works so well for finer hair types, just use a bit of styling cream to smooth down flyaways. We love the Color Wow One Minute Transformation Styling Cream.
Bandana bob
A little light drizzle? A bandana is your bob's best friend. It feels chicer and more intentional than the baseball cap we wear to the gym but still protects hair from humidity and spitty rain.
Cuffed up
Sometimes the occasion calls for us to just pull it all back into a low bun, so why not add a statement hair accessory to jazz things up?
Everyone's clicking on...
Space buns
Youthful? Yes, but always perfect for a weekend day that requires a full day outside and you have no idea what the weather will bring.
Faux plaits
If you can't French braid or cornrow, this look is for you! You just need a tail comb and some clear elastic bands! Divide your hair in two, and then split each section into three loose ponies with an elastic. Create a gap at the elastic, and then thread the pony through that gap underneath and tuck into the section below.
Bobby pinned
If you have regrowth or baby hairs that become a flyaway nightmare during blustery winds, a few cleverly placed face-framing bobby pins will do the trick of keeping your hairline neat.
