I've always thought we should bring back the concept of a town crier. There's something wonderfully efficient about having someone in tights stand in the street and yell the important news at you. Sadly, I have neither the tights nor the lung capacity, so you'll have to settle for me telling you here and now that Louise Redknapp has recently debuted a 90s-inspired bell-bottom bob.
Now, Louise may be making headlines after reportedly splitting from boyfriend Drew Michael after dating for two years, but we're more preoccupied with her hair â because, to put it quite bluntly, who needs a man when you've got a bob this good?
The singer's latest look, as per her most recent Instagram below, is a glossy, flicked-out number that feels like it's walked straight off a 90s music video set.
Despite sounding like something you'd find at the back of a 1970s wardrobe, the bell-bottom bob is distinctly 90s thanks to its sleek finish and kicked-out ends. The shape is essentially a blunt bob â AKA, minimal layering and a clean, weighty finish â but its slightly longer length means the ends sit perfectly on the shoulders, creating that signature flicked-out silhouette.
The best part about this style? Its versatility! Previously speaking to Cosmopolitan UK, hairstylist Chlöe Swift shared that the bell-bottom bob suits most people. "It works particularly well on straight to wavy hair, and can be adapted for finer hair by creating the illusion of fullness through the ends," she said. "Face-shape wise, itâs incredibly flattering because the outward movement around the jawline helps soften stronger features and creates balance for oval, heart and longer face shapes."Want a fringe, too? You're in luck! "Curtain bangs are my favourite because they blend seamlessly into the flicked-out shape," Chlöe explained. "A soft, wispy or Bardot style fringe gives the style a more French-inspired feel," she added.
Essentially, Louise's new haircut is everything we could want from a 90s revival and more. Hear ye, hear ye! Consider the bell-bottom bob officially back!
