Presenter, mother, baker. Cat Deeley switches out hats all day long, if her social media posts are anything to go by. But one title missing from the CV: Nail aficionado. Until now.
Just short of 24 hours ago, Cat shared a 10-part carousel to her IG feed, documenting the making of her blackberry, pear and apple crumble. "When life gives you blackberries, you make @cheftomkerridge's blackberry, pear and apple crumble! 🫶 No pears , so added extra apples …. Also added some vanilla … Boys picked the blackberries on the heath !"" she wrote to caption her post.
The crumble looked delightful, sure, but the real feast for our eyes? Her Japanese manicure – AKA, bare nails!
In recent months, Cat has been dominating the celebrity nail scene with one covetable manicure after another; first she sported ballet blush nails, a barely-there pink wash that made a case for understated elegance, and then came tomato nails, which, as its name would suggest, is a colour likened to that of the fruit (because yes, it is a fruit, people!).
Now, however, she's ditched the polish altogether in favour of a natural look, and it's one that The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, has also been wearing as of late. Japanese nails, it's your time to shine.
Despite sounding like it requires a passport and a trip to Tokyo, the trend is actually much simpler than it sounds. It's all about embracing the natural nail, with a focus on healthy, glossy, well-shaped tips rather than layers of colour or elaborate designs.
Everyone's clicking on...
"The treatment is designed to strengthen and improve the health of your nails using ingredients like beeswax and sea minerals," celebrity manicurist Sophia Stylianou previously told Cosmopolitan UK. So, no UV lamps and certainly no acetone soak-off. Just your nails, but better!
"Instead, the nails are gently buffed to create a smooth, glossy finish that looks naturally shiny and healthy," Sophia adds.
Many salons offer the service, but because it's so low-maintenance, it's also super easy to achieve at home.
Finally, a nail trend that doesn't require a two-hour appointment and the patience of a saint. Sign me up!
