Just last week, Hannah Waddingham stole Wimbledon's celebrity enclosure spotlight, stepping out with a freshly cut Italian bob. A total Grand Slam, if you ask me. And now, she's done it again, but this time, with an updo that serves just as well as Sinner.

Over the weekend [11 July, 2026], Hannah attended day thirteen of the 2026 Wimbledon Tennis Championships, her second game of the season. But this time she ditched the lengths for a more weather-appropriate hairstyle. Gone were her neck-clinging lengths – a stifling 'do in 30 degree heat, I'm sure one could agree – and in their place came a sophisticated twisted French pinned 'do.

Now, you might assume an updo would sacrifice volume – what with scraping back strands and coaxing them into a sleek, out-of-the-face style – but that's not necessarily the case. Hannah's version has bouncy curls in abundance, topped with a bouffant beehive. A coiffed quiff, if you will.

To keep the style in place, we don't doubt that Hannah would have used heaps of hairspray. And while products as such, of course, help, it's the curly style that is doing the heavy lifting (literally).

To break it down, curls have more grit, texture and volume, meaning the bends create tension between hairs, helping them support one another. Straight hair, by contrast, tends to fall flat because the strands slide past each other more easily.

So, if you're looking to wear your bob in an updo this summer (and let your neck breathe) but don't want to compromise on volume, make like Hannah with a curly bouffant style. Chic and practical, in equal parts.
