- The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives was renewed for season 6, with 20 more episodes reportedly ordered by Hulu.
- MomTok member Layla Taylor confirmed that season 6 is happening during an August 5 podcast appearance.
- Taylor Frankie Paul’s status for the new season remains uncertain due to ongoing legal issues and a domestic dispute with her ex, Dakota Mortensen, which paused season 5 production in March.
Good news, reality TV buffs: The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is officially coming back for a sixth season. Which comes as a shock, since I didn’t really think MomTok could survive all the drama that surrounded the yet-to-be-released season 5 and Taylor Frankie Paul’s Bachelorette cancellation. (More on that later.)
MomTok member Layla Taylor fully confirmed the news during an August 5 appearance on Hulu’s Get Real podcast, while sources separately revealed to TMZ that the network ordered 20 new episodes for the upcoming season…and possibly another one after that.
As for Taylor’s involvement, TMZ claims that “the network is holding casting cards close to the vest” and that her status on the Hulu series is currently unknown amid her legal drama and domestic dispute with ex Dakota Mortensen.
Back in March, TMZ reported that production on SLOMW season 5 “hit an unexpected pause” due to a “blowup” between Taylor and Dakota. A separate source confirmed to People that the show was “not filming,” and that “Taylor has some pretty serious stuff happening regarding her past, and they will see what happens. Until that resolves, they are off.”
Filming resumed without Taylor the following month, although TMZ reveals that she returned to film content for the show’s intro.
For the record: There’s still no release date for season 5, no updates on the Orange County spin-off, and definitely no word on when season 6 will start production. It’s also unclear who else is set to return besides Layla...but just know I’m already seated for what’s to come.
