Hey Jennie fans, it’s time to gird your loins: Your favorite K-pop girlie is setting the stage for a brand-new album release—and according to her agency OA Entertainment, she plans to drop her first solo EP at the end of August. As a reminder: This is coming less than five months after Jennie surprised fans with her anniversary project with six brand-new tracks. Her generosity!!
The BLACKPINK member has been giving glimpses at what her new era might sound like through her festival appearances and recent single drops, but what else should you know about the new EP? I’ve compiled every last bit of evidence about Jennie’s forthcoming music project so you and all your besties can have all the intel before everyone else does. You’re welcome!
What songs will be on Jennie’s new album?
Jennie has yet to confirm any of the tracks that will be on her upcoming project, but she has been dropping clues through her recent live performances. She first teased “Less Than a Lover” during her headlining set at the Governors Ball Music Festival in New York back in June (and later released the music video for the song on July 24).
The Gov Ball set also included a preview of another track called “lockitdown,” which is all about a “secret love affair.”
And that’s not all! Jennie’s Gov Ball set included a third unreleased track titled “Heaven,” in which she sings about “heartbreak.”
Oh, and let’s not forget about “FALLENANGEL,” which she debuted at Lollapalooza.
It’s unclear whether her new EP will include “Heaven,” but it will reportedly include “Less Than a Lover,” “lockitdown,” and “FALLENANGEL.”
When will Jennie’s solo EP come out?
OA Entertainment announced that the EP drops this month (!!), which means you can expect it on either Friday, August 21, or Friday, August 28.
As a reminder, the BLACKPINK star just put out a solo project this year with the release of Ruby (The Complete Collection)—an anniversary release that celebrated the arrival of her debut solo record and included six new songs to boot—on March 6, so the fact that she’s already dropped a new EP is wild (complimentary).
During her recent Cosmo cover story, Jennie reflected on the chaos she’s experienced since releasing Ruby. “Being honest, it was a crazy year for me, the past year,” she said. “I never had the time to sit down, adapt, and really embrace what Ruby did for me.” According to her, “after the second album is out and the festival circuit is finished,” she’ll be ready for a much-deserved break.
But! In the meantime, Jennie is feeling super stoked at being able to share new material with her fans. In a brief moment while talking with fans at the Open’er Festival, she said (via Billboard), “It feels really special to share new music with this many people…I really can’t wait to share this new music with you soon.”
