If you were on the internet on July 18, then chances are you caught that very viral image of BLACKPINK’s Jennie snuggled up next to a mystery man on her Instagram Story. And by mystery, I mean his face was very literally covered by a white heart sticker, so it was near impossible to figure out his identity.
Blinks immediately began to spiral, thinking that Jennie might be soft-launching a new relationship (which would be a bit of a shock, since Jennie hasn’t been linked to anyone since those unconfirmed rumors about her and BTS member V).
A few days later, Jennie shared the first teaser for the “Less Than a Lover” music video, the first single off her forthcoming sophomore album that she’s previously teased at Governors Ball, Open’er Festival, Roskilde Festival, and—most recently—Mad Cool Festival.
And the mystery man? He’s starring alongside her in the visual, and she finally gave fans a closer look at him ahead of the “Less Than a Lover” video premiere on July 24. So…who is he? Lucky for me, fans have seemingly tracked him down.
It’s rumored that Jennie’s male lead is Nah Kai, a 24-year-old Taiwanese fashion model currently working in Seoul. He’s signed with the Korean model agency GRANbrew and has been in campaigns for Musinsa, Low Classic, and 8 Seconds, to name just a few.
If he looks familiar to you, that might be because this isn’t his first K-pop video. He previously appeared in the music video for “Blue” by DxS (made up of Seventeen’s DK and Seungkwan).
And while chances are that Jennie and Nah’s relationship is merely professional, the chemistry is palpable, no?
Per fan footage, the “Less Than a Lover” music video was reportedly shot in Girona, Spain, earlier this month, with one of the shots taking place outside of Girona Cathedral (which, fun fact, serves as the Great Sept of Baelor in King’s Landing during season 6 of Game of Thrones).
And while Nah’s involvement in the project has yet to be confirmed, we’ll know for sure on July 24 (aka tomorrow!!) once the video drops.
