All the Celebrity Cameos You Might’ve Missed in ‘One Night Only,’ From Glen Powell to Julia Fox
A couple of actors only appear in photos...
One Night Only takes place in a world where single people are only legally allowed to have sex on one night per year. (This is why it’s become known as the “sex Purge movie.”) And while the trailer does a really good job at not filling anyone in on how a law like this could be enforced, the box office numbers show that it wasn’t quite intriguing enough.
Another thing kept secret in the trailer? The numerous cameos in One Night Only. The trailer mostly focuses on stars Monica Barbaro, who plays Allie, and Callum Turner, who plays Owen. But from pictures of famous stars briefly appearing on screen to actors showing up as themselves, the cameos just keep coming in this comedy. Here’s a (mostly) spoiler-free look at the recognizable faces who show up.
Glen Powell
Glen Powell is not in One Night Only exactly. An image of him briefly appears on screen when Owen shows a photo of the guy his girlfriend, Malika (Maya Hawke), wants to have sex with instead of him. Glen starred in director Will Gluck’s movie Anyone But You, which explains his inclusion.
Sydney Sweeney
Glen’s Anyone But You co-star Sydney Sweeney also pops up in One Night Only. A photo of her appears when Owen is looking through a dating app.
Pete Davidson
Pete Davidson kinda sorta plays himself, because he shows up as an actor filming a detective project. It turns out, the “one night” is a great time for movies and TV production, because everyone else is otherwise... occupied.
Bobby Cannavale
Bobby Cannavale also plays an actor starring in the fictional detective project.
Ziwe
So Ziwe actually does pop up in a trailer for One Night Only, but the comedian’s role is still more cameo-style and makes for a fun moment in the film. She plays a bouncer at a top-secret party that Allie and Owen sneak their way into.
Este Haim
Haim musician Este Haim plays another bouncer at the party. Aside from her cameo role, Este did the score for One Night Only along with composer Christopher Stracey.
Flavor Flav
Flavor Flav appears as himself in a TV broadcast showing a countdown to the beginning of the sex law exemption night.
Julia Fox
In one scene in the film, Julia Fox plays a bartender who Owen decides he wants to hook up with during the “one night.”
Nicholas Braun
A few recognizable actors show up during a montage in which Allie tries to make a connection with someone at a bar. Nicholas Braun’s character is an immediate “no” for Allie, because he’s a tech guy who wants to use the sex-tracking data for his own gain. (Yes, there is sex-tracking data in this movie.)
Jay Ellis
Jay Ellis plays another suitor at the bar. He seems like a great option until...
Ben Marshall
Allie’s convo with Jay Ellis’s character goes well until his friend, played by Saturday Night Live’s Ben Marshall, shows up and explains—in detail—all the ways that they hope to have sex with her together. It’s not exactly what she’s looking for.
Mike Birbiglia
Comedian Mike Birbiglia plays a cop who Owen meets after he’s robbed by a woman he meets through a dating app.
Blu DeTiger
Musician Blu DeTiger appears as one of the members of the band at the party where Allie ends up singing.
Radio Man
Radio Man (aka Craig Castaldo) is a background actor who is famous for having a ton of credits in all sorts of movies and TV shows. In One Night Only, his cameo is as a man selling things on a table set up on the sidewalk.
