This just in: another F1 WAG officially secured a ring—an engagement ring. British racing driver George Russell just announced his engagement to his longtime girlfriend, Carmen Montero Mundt, with a joint Instagram post on Sunday, August 9.
The pair celebrated the milestone with a romantic seaside dinner, where Carmen showed off her brand-new (and dare I say, massive???) yellow diamond engagement ring. George…you did good, brother!
Anyway, here’s everything you need to know about George Russell’s girlfriend-turned-fiancée, Carmen Montero Mundt…and her stunning sparkler, because I know you’re dying to know the details.
She’s a beauty founder
Yep, Carmen is more than just a WAG. The Spanish businesswoman launched and co-founded the skincare brand Barriers earlier this year alongside Oscar Mulls. According to the brand’s official website, the products’ “formulas are designed to work with your skin, helping to keep the microbiome balanced, strengthen the skin barrier, maintain hydration, and help skin respond to daily environmental stress.”
Before she branched into the beauty biz, her LinkedIn profile reveals she worked as an investor relations associate at Ruffer LLP in London from June 2022 to October 2023 after interning for the company from September to December 2021.
She met George on a blind date
It wasn’t just a blind date—it was a double date with their mutual friend.
Carmen opened up about their legendary meet-cute during an interview with Tatler in August 2026, claiming that her friend wanted to go out for drinks with her and their roommate.
“It was a Sunday night, and my friend was like, ‘I’m dating this guy and he wants to bring his flatmate for a drink. Would you mind coming with us? Because I think it’s a little bit awkward…’ I thought he was really funny,” Carmen said of the blind date.
George separately spoke of the experience in an interview with SunSport, where he revealed he had given her his number after the date and invited her over for another dinner date.
He also spilled that Carmen had no idea who he was because she had no prior interest in Formula 1. “My mate couldn’t make it, so I thought I’ll swing along to see how it goes,” he said of the blind date. “She told me she’s from the south of Spain and she wouldn’t ever expect someone to know the small place she’s from. I knew exactly where she was from, so it was quite coincidental.”
She and George hard-launched their relationship in 2020
After their blind date, the couple kept seeing each other until they became official. Carmen hard-launched her relationship with George in September 2020, when they took a trip to Italy to see the Dolomites together. Cute!!
Carmen’s engagement ring is reportedly worth up to seven figures
Remember when I said George did a good job with his engagement ring? Apparently, Carmen’s yellow diamond could be worth up to seven figures, according to Andrew Brown, CEO of authenticated luxury resale platform myGemma.
“It looks to be about a 7-carat fancy vivid yellow diamond with small kite-shaped white diamonds on the side,” Brown tells Cosmopolitan. “It would most likely have cost upwards of $500,000–$600,000 or, if manufactured or purchased at a high-end jeweler, possibly as much as $1 million.”
Truly love this for everyone involved!!
