There’s nothing like an autumn photo dump for showing off your best cosy szn ’fits – and Olivia Rodrigo really brought her A-game with her latest IG post. Among other enviable seasonal staples (which included a pair of on-trend Frye Campus 14L Boots, a vintage Burberry trench coat, and her trusty ’47 Yankees cap) were a pair of sweet velvet Mary Janes in AW24's It colour: a rich, dark red tone of deep burgundy.
While the shade of her shoes ticked off one trend, the style nailed another of the season's biggest fashion trends. Yep, we've been seeing Mary Janes everywhere and velvet iterations are easily our favourites. The texture is perfect for dressing up office outfits, adding a touch of winter to weekend looks and providing the perfect finishing touch to party szn ensembles. In short: we're obsessed with velvet Mary Janes rn. Bonus points if they're red, too.
After a lil digging, I discovered that Olivia's exact pair are the ViBi Venezia Mary Jane shoes and retail for a surprisingly affordable £99! Handmade in Venice and inspired by traditional gondolier slippers, these round-toe Mary Jane flats from Italian brand ViBi Venezia are srsly chic – and the velvet uppers (along with the trendy hue) just scream autumn/winter, no?
While they're almost completely sold out in every size of the wine colourway she was pictured rocking, the high street has plenty of lookalike designs that are still available to shop now.
Olivia isn’t the only one wearing autumn's It colour in shoe form. Less than a week ago, Taylor Swift wore Aquazzura merlot-toned mules (which are sadly out of stock) while out to dinner with pal Zoë Kravitz. Earlier this season, Jenna Ortega was spotted wearing a pair of burgundy Jimmy Choo Marlow loafers while attending the Venice International Film Festival. And let’s not forget when certified fashion girlie Katie Holmes was photographed walking around NYC in burgundy Mansur Gavriel Square Toe Ballerina flats. (Side note: Katie Holmes also has a pair of ViBi Venezia Mary Janes in blue, because ofc she does.)
Think I just found my new go-to autumn shoe.
